I love Sam C does at Dogfish and will try anything that he brews, but wasn’t all that excited about this one. Finally opened it last night and paired it with mild sushi and salad... really enjoyed it. Copper-ish color with a hint of bluish head and bluish twinge to the body. Maybe my mind is convincing me of the blue! Aroma is malty backed with some fruity tartness. Flavor was smooth - not overly tart like many fruit beers. A bit slick on the palate. Would try again. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 5, 2008 Pours a nice blue color with a light bluish/off white head. Aroma is of lots of blueberries, and some sourness of blackberries as weel. Alcohol also in there. Flavor is just nice fresh berries, not aftificial at all, and finishes with a nice alcohol warmth without being too strong. Dogbrick (2907), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 29, 2008 Updated: Aug 30, 2008Sample at the Dogfish Head/Cheese tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 08/21/08. This brew is a reddish color with a medium pinkish-white head that fizzes away quickly. Spots of lacing. Aroma of tart berries and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of sour blueberries and biscuity malt, plus some mildly astringent alcohol flavors. The finish is tart and fruity with notes of yeast and malt left over. Slightly above average overall. VTHopHead (934), Barre, Vermont, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 24, 2008 750ml - Poured a reddish/pink amber in color with a very small whitish head that faded to nothing. Aroma is yeasty (Belgian?) with hints on sweet malt and fruit (berries). Flavor is strong of Belgian yeast with the sourness (only) of the berries and fruit. Finishes a little bitter with some sourness of the berries. The berries do not add much... this could have been a decent Belgian ale without them.... Lots of alcohol in the end... quite strong... I like it!! nearbeer (1878), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 22, 2008 Bottle. Pours cloudy amber with two finger frothy off white head. Fruity nose as described. Taste is sweet on the front end but some spice on the back end. Kind of a muddled flavor. I concur with the earlier review that said this drinks more like wine than beer. asheft (1438), Marburg, Germany

Blueberry and raspberry aroma (not much surprise there) together with just a touch of corriandery hops--hard to tell if it will be sweet or sour. Hazy blood orage with only wispy white on top. Spicy and sour flavour with not crazy fruitiness that blends very well with the alcohol and medium carbonation. Lots of flavours but not much to put a finger on. Salty and warm feel with a subtle bitterness that is adequatefor the dry belgian spiciness. Spicy finish.
