Flavor is very sweet. The blueberries and blackberries are there, maybe some apple. Strong alcohol flavor, as well, particularly in the finish, but it remains fairly smooth. Medium to full bodied. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2007 Amber colored with beer with a very small slight white head. A tiny bit of raspberry in the aroma and not much else. This beer is basically just a big malt forward beer with a bit of berry in the background. Easy to drink and buzz inducing. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Pours a translucent purplish red with a blackberry aroma. The flavor is "all fruit all the time," and yet the fruit isn’t too intense -- it’s nicely crisp, and the alcohol makes its presence felt. It has a sour, bitter-crisp finish. For me fruit beers are a not a staple, but a great change of pace, and in that context this is recommended. Radek Kliber (3962), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 27, 2007 Bottle: Poured a sedimented reddish hue with a firm top that quietly slinks away. As much as I try, I honestly don’t get much of an aroma here. But this delivers a mouth full of interestingly blended flavors ... musty and oaky with a definite alcoholy warmth, with a very subtle fruitiness only in the end. This is a nice quasi-wine-like beer with a powerful kick and a solid flavor profile. A bit underrated, IMHO. (#3040, 7/27/2007) oakbluff (300), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 26, 2007 Appearance- very nice clarity-just like raspberry ice tea. Very good white head and soapy lacing. Nose- the berries are poking through here. Taste- turn for the worse- smooth enough for a >10% beer, but this really lacks character. Malts are quite sweet and the berry is there, but not prominent enough. Frankly- I thought this beer was the shits after the first glass, but I’m not one to drain pour so I soldiered on. It did improve as it warmed, but not a lot. There is some dryness from the belgian yeast and fruit sugars- touch of hops at the end.
Not impressed at all. Must rate as avoid if possible. I appreciate what DFH is all about and the chances they take, but this beer is not my thing.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 26, 2007 Courtesy of Zathrus13. Pours ruby red with a persistent off white head. Smells of Blueberries, smeet malt, some dough, some tanginess. Tastes of blueberry pie with underlying sugary molasses. A completely unbalanced oversweetened mess. Red and white was much better. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 26, 2007 Bottle - A really well done beer. This beer was primarily refreshing and quite drinkable. The coloration was nice. Perfect carbonation level. Alcohol content well masked. The fruit is subtle and provides a nice background to the malt and spicy hop character.
