Commercial Description:
Black & Blue is golden Belgian Ale made with over 300 lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. With a deep purple full body and a long-lasting lacy pink head, this ale is both attractive and delicious! It is tart and fruity, like our brewers! The subtle bitterness of Hallertau and Saaz hops shines through the fruit forward flavor and sets the palate aglow. (30 IBUs). This tasty brew has smooth but noticeable alcohol warmth. Belgian yeast gives this brew a characteristically dry spicy finish. The beautiful interplay of fruit, spice, and alcohol is complimented by a soft malt profile, and a high level of carbonation.

Pours murky light reddish burnt sienna with a creamy 2 finger white head that has good retention. Aroma starts of with spice, a little blueberry, lemon drop, lots of berry blossom floral notes, hints of vanilla and almonds, bubblegum, starfruit, grapes, peach tree (with ripe peaches on the tree and a few going south on the ground) and just a hint of oak. Flavor is big on coriander at first, then comes orange peel, wheat, dry leaves, lots of fresh peaches, sweet ginger, vanilla, tart blueberries, lemon, grapefruit, yeasty bread dough and some pepper. Finish is dry wine, tart peaches, bueberries, blackberries, tart cherries and salted melon. Palate is dry and slightly acidic throughout with an active effervescense and a slightly oily feel on the lips. Good stuff, I really liked it, a fun and interesting beer.

Pours pinkish amber with a pink head. Aroma is light blueberry and bready yeast. Flavor is bready, berries and spice. Decent, but not overly impressive.

draft @ redlight redlight. Blackberries on the nose, some raspberry, dark cherries, blueberries, overall sweet fruity aromas. Pours a cloudy purplish pink with a thin white head. Sweet fruit upfront, slighty tart berries, raspberry, blackberry, very spicy, finishes dry with some fruit tartness. Nice beer, but i think prefer the red and white.

Amazing beauty of a beer. Pours halfway between orange and purple with a sticky thin white head. Aroma is newly baked bread (the soft inside), and blueberry with a little holiday spice. Flavor is a begian ale with raisins, yeast and sour berries upon sweet berries. Mouthfeel is ridiculous. Big and buttery throughout with an acidity at the end that rounds out this beers representation of all great things belgian-like. This beer peaks my interest in the fruit beer-sour beer genre. Thank You Dogfish. 2009 22 oz.

Pours a unique orange color with minimal head. Good lacing, however. Bright, fruity aroma. Initial tartness in the flavor is quite nice, also love the generous carbonation. Incredibly well-masked alcohol, but the warmth is still present at the end. A very clean palate, crisp and lively. The berries in this beer appeared a lot more subtly than I had anticipated. A well-crafted fruit beer indeed.

poured orangeish with a head that faded into a lacing that stuck around ,smells of citrus and berries, tastes kinda tart at beginning, and alcohol taste is very well hidden to be 10%. very good

Served cold. Pours a glowing cloudy pinkish tea color with a medium thick white froth. Aroma is light, yeast, old berries, lightly spicy, grainy malt. First taste is like a Belgian triple, yeasty, followed by some tart moldy berries, dried fruit, finishing with way too much alcohol, like a shot of blueberry vodka, grain alcohol, slight burn. There is some blueberry taste but I want more, way more. Dry finish. Heavy mouthful, watery but full, light soft sizzling carbonation. I wish this was something different.
