Aroma of pine and wood is prominent upon pour as well as first taste. Starts off bitter but finishes sweet. Medium bodied. Not too dissimilar from the 90 minute. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 1, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. One unique brew. Basically a superior DIPA with oak thrown in. Some of the hops are gone, but the blending process leaves plenty of hops to enjoy. Full-bodied, plenty of awesomeness, and just plain excellent. mcmd (144), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 30, 2009 On draft at local pub. Pours a golden amber with moderate off white head. Aroma is sweet malt, lots of hops, and lots of oak. Flavor is quite sweet initially with plenty of hops and an overload of oakyness rounding out the finish. Almost has a bourbon quality. Basically tastes like it is an oaked version of 90 minute, very nice. efrumtheidiot (190), Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2009 pours copper with a fuzzy off-white head. aroma is sweet but piney, citrus is blended in nicely, subdued but powerful aroma. faint hints of alcohol on the nose too. taste is sweet with a bitter finish, notes of dried dates, some citrus, brown sugar, orange peel. intricate; at times i didn’t know what style it really should be. in fact i agree with the others, it tends to look and even taste a bit like a barleywine (probably due to oak aging). head has good retention with some sudsy lacing. mid bodied with a wet, slippery mouthfeel and light carbonation. really a nice brew, puts a nice spin on the imperial IPA. essence of the 90 minute is there. will buy again. try it! jeff789 (411), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 30, 2009 Very barleywine like in appearance, medium head w nice retention, medium copper/ruby... Citrusy, woody with mild malt aroma... Woody, oaky, not nearly as citrusy as i would expect, more earth in the mold of 60 minute style hops... I still dont understand oak aging ipas... medium bodied with full mouthfeel... nbutler11 (769), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 28, 2009 On tap at Papago. Pours a murky amber color with a trim off-white head. Looks almost liek a barley wine. Smells of grapefruit and hops. Explodes in flavor. Tastes like the sweetest part of a grapefruit, brown sugar, tangerines, aggressive hops, and raisins. Perrhaps this was too fresh, but I didn’t really pick up the oak at all. A great DIPA. carruthm (1170), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 27, 2009 Pours brown with an energetic tan head. Aroma is of interesting spices, vanilla, hops, oak, raisins. Taste is well bittered with a touch of sourness. RHeastings (419), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 26, 2009 Enjoyed via 12oz bottle. I could drink this one everyday...all day...until I passed out, that is. Pours a deep brown, with appetizing aromatic notes of American hops. Palate is what I would call a 60/40 balance of hops and malt. A tremendously full-flavored, well-aged, and absolutely splendid strong ale.
