Commercial Description:
The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jackson’s rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

courtsey of markwise. pours orange - copper. Aroma has lots of malts and grains. Taste is malty and smooth, very sugary with notes of honey, fruity and light wood. Finish is thick with the hops being in the background.

Bottle courtesy of markwise. Pours a slightly hazy copper with a one finger off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, oak, and citrus hops. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good.

Bottle 355 ml,
Appearance: light brown, murky amber , white , bright look. Fragmental ring lace shown. 3+ Aroma: strong, fresh malted nose. Hop/alcohol blend as follow up. Fruity finish. Flavor/Palate: Medium full bodied. Clean full bodied base. Good fresh funky, mango hops with slight finishing burn. Big , light for it size. Neat malt job with good hop profile. Aroma of citrus hops, lots of rich malt and some caramel, apricot, pours a small tan head. Taste is full on malt, plenty of orange goodness. Full bodied, very well balanced, bitterly delightful. Fantastic!

Nose is hoppy as well as the first sip. Not picking up any oak from nose or taste. 10 percent wow alcohol burn and a little on the bitter side. I expected this to be a little smoother but its just shy of having a bite to it.Not one of my favs by a long shot.If youre a hop head go for if not steer clear.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber with a steady off white head. Floral, sweet smell with a soft wood scent in the background. Smooth malt and hops meld together then are followed by the bitterness of the hops blended with an oaky feel. Alcohol is very present. Heavy mouthfeel with some big bite.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a very large, frothy head white in color. Aromas of malt, oak, hops, and port. Creamy texture with an oily mouth-feel. Fruity taste, extremely smooth. One fantastic beer.

Silky, heavy mouthfeel. Oak and hops dominate this brew. That is not a complaint, as the two balance each other very well. Also hints of caramel, honey, and floral notes. A very interesting IPA. Dogfish definitely has the IPA down, and they continue to reinvent it. Well worth a try.
