Aroma is very sweet, grainy sugar syrup pritty much, peachy apricot and tangarine but immencly sweet. Taste is again very sweet though not cloying, citrusness and wood. Iv got to wonder what defines an iipa over a barley wine after this, as most american barley wines are far hoppier and less sweet. jayhopkins23 (27), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Deep mahogany/ruby in color, great aroma of strong citrusy hops and think sweet malt. First sip is strong but not overwhelming in flavor. The complexity of this beer staves off the alcohol. Very smooth and clean. This beer has good balance, and would age very well. I was impressed again by Sam and the guys at Dogfish Head garretjax (103), Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Clear deep redwood hue with a grainy off white thin head. A sweet wood aroma with a tinge of orange citrus. Full bodied and lower carbonation. Dried fruit flavors, carmel and the dusty bite of the oak. It has a wide range of levels of flavor. From high to low to high again. Big bold sticky warming finish of sweet alcohol. Skeegle (496), Maryland, USA

This IPA is BRUTAL. But it’s so balanced . So incredibly flavorful your cheeks tingle and spit with every sip. Just one hell of an IIPA that I will absolutely buy again. malrubius (1000), Valley Stream, New York, USA

Citrus hop aroma with slight alcohol and overipe fruit. Pretty decent fruity flavor peach apricot golden raisin with pronouced sweetness and hoppy very piney finish, faint alcohol. Like drinking a snowy spruce forest. Full body and medium-low carbo. I’m not a big fan of the style, but there’s nothing wrong with this one. I’m enjoying it slowly. oldno7 (137), Spokane, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Bottled 12\29\05: Poured a dark cloudy orange with a thin tan head. Aroma is very pleasant, it has hints of maple, oak, brown sugar, hops and dark fruit.
The flavor was extremely complex and had a unique sweet flavor to it, with notes of caramel, malt, hops, butterscotch, wine and a vanilla finish. I thought this beer was different from most I2PA’s and reminded me of a ASA or a BW. Very Easy drinking and smooth for 10%. wingman333 (244), San Antonio, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Reddish and clear in color...a very good smelling beer, too, with a peachy-type aroma. The taste was not very overwhelming, slightly on the thin side, in fact. I expected more bitterness and flavors of the wood intermingled. This was not bad, just not what I expected. nimbleprop (895), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 28, 2008 From a 12oz bottle pours a deep, transparent, copper amber color with a slight off white head that settled into a lasting ring. Aroma much like a typical IPA, citrus, pine but also heavy vanilla and oak. Flavor reminded me a lot of a barleywine, hop bitterness with a strong malt backing. Hints of biscuit, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Full bodied in the mouth with some lasting bitterness. Unique and tasty.
