Commercial Description:
The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jackson’s rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

Draft at blind lady: pours with gigantic head of cream color atop a glimmering golden clearness. Smells of sweet accented hops with nice orange molassis and ribbon candy. Thick, creamy body brings somewhat sweet and orange-like hop flavors. A little syrupy in texture but not too bad...hops are a little flimsy in the finish as well...but overall not too bad. The oak comes through quite strong in the finish combining with alcohol to allow you to breath orange flavored hop fire

12 oz bottle. Aroma is fruity--grapefruit citrusy, sweet. Pours amber with minimal head, decent lacing. Tastes of raisins, molasses, and alcohol that lingers in the aftertaste. Tastes more like a barleywine than an imperial IPA, but labels aren’t important, right? Good brew.

Another great beef from DFH. Had this on tap at their ale house in Virginia. Spectacular aroma, a medium body, and oh that flavor. Very malty, caramel, and a long finish. This stuff is great.

12 oz bottle served in a tulip. Clear but dark. Oiled bronze in color. Large, dense off-white head with decent retention and considerable lacing. Complex aromatics. Malt, yeast, hops, caramel, and bread. Rich flavors driven by the oak aging. Excellent creamy and slick mouthfeel. Boarders on a barley wine. More malts than hops. Light carbonation. Long, malty, smoldering finish. The alcohol is there late on. Dynamite stuff!

(12oz bottle). Nice copper color. The initial sweetness lingers on the lips but the hops fall a little flat for an IPA. Still, its a nice beer and it hides it’s alcohol content well.

One huge remarkable beer. I could tell from the second I uncapped this one that this was going to be mighty tasty. Maltier than many double-I’s I’ve tried with robust hops from start to finish.

Another good one from DFH. Poured a bright orange color. Nose was more hoppy than the 90 minute. Also, citrus, floral, barley and pine. Taste was like the smell; more hoppy than its brother, the 90 minute. A very delicious beer, wish I would’ve grabbed two...
