Totally weird nose, very musty and cloyingly sweet, somewhat grapey but also a bit like melted plastic. Starts out tart and spritzy before heading towards spiced mead territory before finishing like a sweeter chardonnay. I appreciate what Dogfish Head are going for here, but I definitely didn’t find this one too palatable. princesslala (37), North Carolina, USA

It’s light and has a nice ricey flavor that would compliment many noodle and Asian-style dishes, which I eat a lot. The color is golden with an off-white head. The aroma is predominately of honey, but has a slightly floral character. The strongest flavors are of rice and honey, and the grapes are faintly detectable at the tip of your tongue when you first sip the beer. I am pairing it with sweet and sour pork over rice noodles...it will be a match made in ancient China. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA

Funky aroma like dirty sweatsocks. Fortunately, it tastes better than it smells. Flavor of honey and lots of weirdo spices, sweet and tart finish. Rich full flavor, dry mouthfeel. An experience, for sure. bleeng (600), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 2, 2008 750 bottle. Pours hazy gold with no head. Nose is alcohol, spices, sweetness. Taste comes off very sweet and cloying, with a bit of hop flavoring. Light body-interesting but I won’t buy another bottle of this. Too much...stuff.. BOLTZ7555 (1113), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 1, 2008 Love the "concept", not the beer. DFH pushes the boundaries (which I appreciate)...unfortunately, that doesn’t always pay off in an exceptional brew. This tasted of fermented Welches Grape Juice...not my favorite but revolutionary. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 30, 2008 Bottle. Nose was sweet, honey and grape. Pour was gold, but by the end of the large bottle it was hazy honey. Well balanced, easy drinking.. especially for 9%. Not my favorite brew ever, but it was a nice treat. Nose is grapefruity lemon and other citrus with hoppiness. Very fruity. Slight sweaty sock tones. Mouth is sweet caramel and lemons. Some cherry / raspberry. Finishes spicy and flowery. Honey. No alcohol hints. Sweet, long coating. Enjoyable.
