Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold with a small fizzy white head that faded quickly. Light lazy visible carbonation. The nose is sweetly malty with a white grape like fruitiness, reminds me of a Gewurtstraminer wine. Some honey as well, but nothing that I can say that it is hawthorn fruits, whatever they are. Flavor is mead like with all that honey and white grape juice. Quite sweet up front, then lots of alcohol flavor on the finish. Truely a wine and beer hybrid. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slightly sticky sweetness. Moderate, very prickly, fizzy carbonation. Can’t say that I really cared for this one. The few beer and grape hybrids that I have liked were all beers with some type of "bugs" in them. jerc (3936), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Fruity floral aroma is mild but pleasant (6+) Similar character in the flavour, sweet pale malt base, light berry and floral notes, light bitterness. (6+) Average palate. Pleasant but fails to distinguish itself much. 6+/3/6+/3/13-14 rudolf (1774), Buffalo, New York, USA

Aroma of honey, grape, apple, pear as well as a strong alcohol presence. Very sweet with lots of honey, grape and apple up front. Also, hints of citrusy orange and alcohol. Although it is quite sweet the slight maltiness gives it a nice balance preventing it from becoming too tart. Very refreshing. Acknud (781), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA

I can’t ever see paying $11 for a bottle of something that looked like the cat died and decayed in it. There were chunks of stuff floating all through it. As far as the taste and aroma...smelled and tasted like a bottle of welches grape juice had been poured in a Budweiser. I love DFH beers but they can keep this one! footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

We all know hw hard it is to believe some of the stories from "that" long ago so how in the fuck can think this is ging to work?

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 23, 2007 A very different beer from anything else I’ve had. Pours cloudy gold with almost no head and no carbonation. Honey, muscat grapes, and earthiness in the nose. Drinks like a liquer/port. Lots of honey and grapes, solid malt back, anmd a dirty/vegetable/fruit flavor throughout. Interesting break from normal beers, but not a regular in the rotation. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 17, 2007 Looks like my often nasty homebrew. Gassy with a taste of compose. This reminds me of what Mick’s Malt Liquor mixed with some Belgian wild beer would be like. Not worth the 12 bucks. Damn, why did I not buy the bottle of Jolly Pumpkin. It’s cool as hell that Dogfish will attempt to recreate Neolithic brew, but I find the bittering agent in this suspicious. I’m picking up some kind of European hops. Was this hopped at all back…uh, way back in the day? The one thing this does have is a nice mouth feel….a testament to DHB brewing skills. They are always smooth…
