Commercial Description:
Similar to a beer brewed in China some 9,000 years ago, Chateau Jiahu used a recipe that included rice, honey, and grape and hawthorn fruits. The formula was obtained from archaeologists who derived it from the residues of pottery jars found in the late Stone Age village of Jiahu in northern China. The residues are the earliest direct evidence of brewed beverages in ancient China.

DFH-750 Bottle via adrian (thanks!) Pours a semi hazy amber. Nose is sour honey?! Taste is...heAVY & DRY...yet sugary, honey, vanilla, and dry woody notes....then the sugar kicks back in. I won’t say this is awful..but is kind of discombobulated!

Cloudy yellow coloring with a pungent fruity aroma. Fruity taste comes through and there is also a honey taste added to the fruitiness. It is almost refreshing but the pungent aroma still comes through in the taste which hurts the beer. Not bad but nothing I’d get again.

bottle from Knightly - Cloudy light head, with a urine-like body, aroma is floral and herbal, flavor is pretty sweet and spicy, corriander, makes my face cringe a little bit when it goes down, a very different beer - couldnt drink too much of it.

750 ml. Pale golden color with no head. Tastes like honey and sparkling grapejuice, just like the Midas Touch, but this has floral notes and is a lot lighter in body.

75cL bottle. Orange, golden color with medium-sized, white head. Very winey aroma with a hint of fruit and grape. The flavor is pretty sweet (even cold) with lots of fruit including melon, starfruit, some honey, and it’s quite carbonated. Not sure what hawthorn berries taste llike so no comment there. Maybe it’s the source of a mild bitterness? Tastes like a wine spritzer with some melon liqueur. Maybe like a sparkiling mead as well? But it’s a good beer to try.

Bottle. Pours dense cheddar with an aroma of banana and bubblegum. Immediate rush of alcohol on the tongue, followed by tart grapejuice that nicely offsets the onslaught of the aforementioned ingredient/afterproduct of fermentation. Velvety mouthfeel; spikey as it passes along the tongue. Not bad for this brewer, and yes, it pains me to say that.

Wow, unusual to say the least. Not much to look at- no head and apricot in color. Slight floral nose and lots of flowers in the mouth with some honey in there as well. Ii guess Iliked it well enough since I went back for thirds, or maube I was just trying to get my head around it.
