stefanje (596), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jul 11, 2008 750 ml bottle courtesy of lb4lb. Pours a cloudy dark yellow color with a small white head that soon fades to a fine film. The aroma is unusual and spicy, there are fruits in here that I can not identify. The flavor is rich with honey and spicey white grapes, there is also an odd vegetable taste. The mouthfeel is full and malty. The finish is long with lingering honey. Overall: This is a most unusual tasting ale, one that is an acquired flavor, and a flavor that I have not yet acquired. I do however, appreciate the effort to boldly brew new(and old) beers.
Underhook (148), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA Oct 4, 2008 Pours pale yellow with a fizzy, active head. Fizzy carbonation. Sour, malty aroma. Taste is bitter sweetness, some honey notes, a little sour. Overly carbonated. Points for a unique idea, but not a great beer. smith4498 (384), Miami, Florida, USA Sep 25, 2008 Pours hazy honey color with fizzy white head. Sweet fruity aromas of grapes , apples and honey. Similar flavors. Very sweet and kind of wierd. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Interesting to try, but I will not be seeking this out again. I think it is great that DFH does all of these cool experiments. I like some of them but this wasn’t one of my favorites. D_malone102 (95), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 25, 2008 It’s hard to judge this beer against the style, because I’ve never had a beer like it. I’m not a huge fan of honey, or rice in beer, so I didn’t like this too much. It’s sweet and herbal, but not like a mead, it’s muted. mekju_baksa (16), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 24, 2008 Bottle. Exceptionally good. It’s kind of like a honey beer but not too "beery". Has a unique aromatic bitterness that gave us the impression of something savoring. We had a hard time pairing it with foods... mainly enjoyed it after dinner. I wonder if the Creationists have a problem with the "9,000 year old" claim. Sammy (3141), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 17, 2008 Had atAobecksy Fest. Very strange herbal taste. Was not too drinkable. Below average mouthfeel.
