Commercial Description:
Chicory Stout is a rich, dark beer made with a touch of roasted chicory, organic Mexican coffee, St. John's Wort, and licorice root. It is brewed with roast barley, crystal malt and oats and hopped just right with Glacier hops. We use fair trade Organic Mexican Coatepec beans roasted to our specifications by Notting Hill Coffee Roastery in Lewes, DE.

Overall good stout. Not quite as strong in flavor as most stouts, but that is not a bad thing in this case. The flavor is there and very good. The aroma is fantastic and made me laugh out loud (in joy). Nothing special about the mouthfeel and the carbonation was ok. The head was almost non-existent but was dark. Good beer. One of Dogfish Heads better brews.

Pours a dark mahogany color with a medium off-white head which leaves plenty of webby lacing. Aroma is oats, light chocolate, and a bit of coffee. Taste is much the same. Very well balanced with nice highlights of coffee, wood, and oats.

Drank with Steve. Awesome beer. Didnt taste much licorice but the oats, wood and coffee were definitely there. Loved it. Thanks Steve.

Little to no carbonation with barely any head. Not sure on the age. Nice smell as soon as i opened it. Really nice smooth flavor that reminds me of a smoked beer. Glad they left the alcohol out of this one, as it doesn’t need it. The only thing it was lacking was a mouthfeel, but it makes it easier to drink. Quite good.

Poured Black with a small cream head. Strog flavor of coffee and dark chocolate. It does have a woody/smokey hint to it. No real licorice flavor. Another awesome beer from DogFish.

On tap at Mellow Mushroom. Very good. Love the different coffee flavors and the roasty and smokey flavors. Very dark and smooth. Nice coffee smells. A little thin in the body though. Liked it alot though.

Great malty flavor, chicory only apparent in the smell. Smooth silkiness, like the 8-ball stout. Went down very easy for a Dogfish Head product.
