But a very inviting aroma of rich malts. Coffee with a touch of vanilla. The flavor is very vairied. Thick up front, lots of roasted malts, vanilla and a hint of spicyness. And also very watery on the back end and the even more spicy. finishs very subtle and softly. Once again DFH creates something just a little left of center that is done very well. redlight (1489), Winter Park, Florida, USA

Smooth dark malts, coffee, chocolate, creamy vanilla, very smooth and spicy hops. Very good dark session beer! Woodsman52 (23), , Ohio, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 13, 2009 Nice lower ABV stout. Dark clear brown pour with thin yellow-tan head. Roasted barley, caramel, coffee, and slight anise on the nose and palate. Slight hops and sweet coffee added on the palate. Thin finish, as I guess should be expected in a lower ABV stout. Would be interested in a slightly stronger version of this. greendazed86 (1), Clifton, New Jersey, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 12, 2009 A deep brown pour with a very small tan head that quickly fades to foam around the edge of the glass. Smells like mocha coffee. Initial taste is of coffee with a hint of chocolate, fading to roasted hops. Fairly thin for a stout, with little carbonation and no lingering taste. A very tasty beer. mikalooch (168), , New Jersey, USA

Flavor is slighly bitter with coffee and bar mocha, followed by a slight hop presence with roasted malts. Very sticky mouthfeel, not much carbonation. Decent. fidel (976), Livermore, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Poured black with a medium-tan head. I’m not sure why the bottle says bone-white head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate malts. Taste is slightly bitter at first with a strong flavor of coffee. Taste transitions to a smooth chocolaty finish. Finish is sweeter than expected with notes of fruit.
