Commercial Description:
Chicory Stout is a rich, dark beer made with a touch of roasted chicory, organic Mexican coffee, St. John's Wort, and licorice root. It is brewed with roast barley, crystal malt and oats and hopped just right with Glacier hops. We use fair trade Organic Mexican Coatepec beans roasted to our specifications by Notting Hill Coffee Roastery in Lewes, DE.

12 oz bottle purchased at Frugal Macdoogal’s in Nashville. Poured a dark brown/almost black, with a three finger creamy brown head. The aroma was coffee, roasted malt and burned toast. The flavor was roasty, with a bitter coffee finish. The palate was average with soft carbonation, a silky mouthfeel, but a slightly thin body. This could have been a 4.0 beer in my opinion, if not for the body.

12 oz. bottle from Trinity Liquors in Spring Hill, FL. Aroma of a bit of malt and some coffee...maybe a little bit of burnt toffee in there too...Pours black with barely any light getting through, thin orange head. Flavor is burnt wood, coffee, toffee, a little bitter. Very nice flavor. Leaves a bit of a burnt marshmallow feel on the palate. But its kind of nice. Overall...I really like it...Nice balanced beer...not too much of anything...everything is subtle but nice. Good winter beer.

Brewed in the USA.....Pours a dark brown almost black in color with zero head. Aroma of herbs, grains, and mild coffee. Taste is of burnt coffee, licorice, hops and malts. The mouthfeel is lite and watery but finishes on the dry side.

Unique to say the least. An easy going free spirit cousin of a stout. I smell the coffee and the licorice. Enjoy with a bunch of people you want to impress, see what they say, and tell them it’s quite exotic with a flavor of rugged individualism.

12oz bottle. Black with a creamy beige head that leaves some fine lace. Roasty, somewhat earthy coffee aroma. Medium dry, with a good roasted edge, some mild hops, and a coffee-like bitterness in the finish that is just a tad burnt. Medium-light in body with a creamy texture. Not exactly my favorite style of stout, but pretty solid.

12 oz bottle pours dark brown with a thin white head. Aroma is predominately coffee with maybe a hint of maltiness and chocolate. Tastes of week coffee and not much else. Some roasted malts and hunt of chocolate. Mouthfeel is thin and watery, but clean.
