Dark brown, strong roasted coffee taste followed by a sweet caramelly finish. I really like the fact that it has St. John’s Wort in it for an even stronger feeling of "well-being." | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 4, 2008 A very smoked filled, roasted coffee aroma that I wouldn’t mind waking up to in the morning...and then there are it’s other attributes. Unfortunately, they just don’t live up to the nose. Deep brown with copper tones and a small tan head, this beers flavors of chocolate, coffee, and wood just aren’t that enjoyable. Pours black with a short lived brownish head. Smell is coffee, roastiness, chocolate and a smell typical of "organic" beers. Taste is roasty, chocolately and coffee like with a bit of a strange, dull and abrupt finish. Perhaps from the chicory?
Another interesting beer from DFH, and drinkable, although not a favorite of mine. jjuf1853 (471), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA

Interesting nose of roasted wood and coffee. Full of roasted body with a lot of espresso character. A little chocolate on the finish. The texture is thin and creamy throughout.
