| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 20, 2008 rich dark pour with good brown had adn decent lacing from a 12 oz bottle, this stout boasts some exotic ingredients like Mexican coatpec beans and licorice root but the important thing to note is that the don’t muddle the overal product. not too roasted, not too sweet. Just a very pleasent, drinkable stout. well done. mrant (330), New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Smells somewhat faintly of chocolate and coffee. Pours a thick opaque black, looked almost like motor oil pouring from the bottle. Small fine tan head. Taste is dark roasted chocolate malts with lots of coffee flavor. The chicory is not as noticeable as I was expecting. A nice stout from dogfish head, but simply doesn’t "shine" like their other brews. tunneler (113), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 20, 2008 burnt and slightly sweet aroma nice long lingering coffee (chicory, presumably) finish. I like the licorice which pops up about 3/4 of the way through but too bad it doesn’t stick around alexen84 (29), Australia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Wasn’t overly impressed with this one. A little over the top with the chocory and coffee, needed balancing out with a little more alcohol and malt sweetness. blipp (1669), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 19, 2008 Bottle. Appearance: Very dark brown/black, brown head. Aroma: Burnt nuts, roasted malt, a hint of coffee. Palate: Very soft, full, mouthfilling. Flavor: Tastes like a campfire. Burnt wood, roasted malt, mocha, finishes with some notes of chocolate. Overall: A very enjoyable stout, easy drinking. Even my girlfriend liked it. JCB (1765), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 18, 2008 Finally had this one, on tap at the Brickskeller, D.C. Shame that Dogfish doesn’t do more stouts, as this one is not only distinctive (I’m partial to stouts with licorice, molasses, etc.) but compares favorably - in its thick body and hearty malting - to brews like Bells Double Cream. Very solid. Cryotek (206), Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2008 Black, with off white head. Smells like hop roasted leather. Tastes a little sweet, a little roasty, crushed coffe beans but not a strong coffee taste. Bitter hops, and i do taste the spices, maybe a little Papirika. Ok, not an elite souts, but i can enjoy it.
