| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2008 Black, with off white head. Smells like hop roasted leather. Tastes a little sweet, a little roasty, crushed coffe beans but not a strong coffee taste. Bitter hops, and i do taste the spices, maybe a little Papirika. Ok, not an elite souts, but i can enjoy it. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 13, 2008 Slight bitter note to start. Fantastic color. Tiny off white head. Smells terrific with hints of coffee, cinnamon and chocolate. Smooth going down and the bitterness gives way to a lasting sweet note with a hint of espresso. Tasty, good but not great. killtuba (11), Burke, Virginia, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jan 12, 2008 I had this at the DFH alehouse - deep choclate color with typical stout head thickness and brown color - very nutty flavor, with a malt feel and hint of coffee - finishes well with bitterness and a roasted oats aftertaste. also good in black and tan with DFH 90 IPA. rustychiles (1071), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 12, 2008 Very fresh batch read that it was bottled on 12/21/2007 and was consumed 1/11/2008.
Pours a very dark brown to black with white to light brown head. Aroma of cofee and malts. The taste is slightly bitter and malty with cofee notes. Goes down very nice, very nice indeed. I usually prefer bigger imperial stouts because they have more flavor than their weaker cousins; however @ only 5.2% alcohol this stout is one that I could drink all night and enjoy. Well done Dogfish Head. jhumphries69 (737), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 11, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours opaque black with a very thick, rocky, long-lasting (though not eternal), dark tan head. The aroma is thick and strong with loads of dark roasted malts and coffee. There is a touch of lactic sweetness and an odd, "green" nature to the aroma: herbal and almost medicinal - like a vitamin or a bottle bought from GNC. The flavor starts hoppy and bittersweet with lovely flavors of dark malts, strong coffee, and dark chocolate. The middle of the palate finds a very nice balance of malty, chocolatey, coffee sweetness and roasted, grainy, hoppy bitterness. The finish is somewhat dry with a nice touch of earthy hops and deep, roasted grain that lingers at length. The mouthfeel is perfect: just the right level of carbonation to lighten the medium-to-full body and just the right level of oats to give an exceptionally smooth and almost, but not quite, oily texture. Overall, a very nice stout (but awfully pricey...) dsm (109), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2008 Tap at Max’s. Pours black with a small head. Tasted a little bitter, a little roasted malt. It got better as it warmed up. An easy drinker. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2008 Pours black with a small, creamy, light tan head. Ive always enjoyed the nose on this beer. I like the thick chocolate, roast, light coffee, and syrupy malts that make up the aroma. The flavor has a pretty big coffee character to it. Pretty nice chocolate to it too. Medium bodied which is ok for this style. Just a slight little bitterness in the finish and the aftertaste. Pretty solid stout with alot of flavor, maybe a touch underrated I think. Great session stout. dchmela (1476), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 9, 2008 Pours deep black, oil like with a thin off white head. Big coffee aroma with roasted and chocolate malt in there, too. Taste is dry stout like, clean and crisp, with lots of coffee notes. Finishes very nice, this is a nice easy to drink stout and great if you love coffee.
