| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Dark almost black color with a medium head. Smell of coffee and malt. Is this a Porter? :) Good coffee taste, and now that I read the description, I can taste the licorice. Slightly thin texture however a thick malt finish. mansquito (849), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Thick tan head with a virtually black body. Malty smell with roasty things in there. And something I couldn’t put my finger on in both the aroma and in the taste, probably the chicory. Has a taste of roasted malts with some smokiness. Coffee taste is there. Slightly bitter. Good, but not really great. BlackForestCO (829), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 4, 2007 Updated: Feb 19, 2009Poured from a bottle. Poured a deep brown color with a nice tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, smoke, and a hint of coffee and licorice. Unique roasted flavor right off the bat, different than most stouts. I suppose that is probably the chicory. As it warms the coffee comes out nicely in the finish. Smooth and creamy. Easy to drink. I like it because it takes a somewhat different approach to the common stout. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 4, 2007 Pours a dark brown with a light brown head. Smells like the hardwood bar countertop that it sits on. Tastes like an old wooden cabinet but really really awesome with coffee poured all over it. Wouldn’t mind having this one again. xibalba89 (147), New York, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2007 Pours a thick black with a nice tan head. Aroma has plenty of burnt, robust grains along with a hint of bitter hops. Flavor is more of the same, some espresso flavors come out as well. A pretty good beer, though it doesn’t compare to the World Wide Stout. golubj (1300), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 2, 2007 Draft at the Blind Tiger, supposedly a new recipe for this beer. Dark brown pour, opaque, with tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and lactic acid. The flavor is the same, not too impressive. I don’t think I like stouts anymore because the nice flavors seem to fade away leaving you with nothing but sour milk. ucusty (1919), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
