| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Oct 1, 2007 Rich, robust, coffee infused deliciousness - really tasty, but not for everybody - if you do not like strong coffee and stay away from the Starbucks bold flavors avoid this beer.... gotohelunc (476), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Draft at Dogfish. Dark brown, thin brown head. TONS of aroma...rich coffee, smoke, and toasted nuts. The flavor keeps it up with a lot going on. Heaviest coffee flavors I’ve ever had in a stout, almost like a burnt roast but in a good way. Surprisingly smooth with this much going on. I’d like to be able to say I can taste the chicory and St. John’s Wort, but since I have no idea what either of these taste like, I can’t. Whatever the taste is, I like it quite a lot. LinusStick (1848), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 16, 2007 This was a good stout. Pour was a nice deep dark brown with a 1 finger tan head. Aroma was so so. Roasted malt and that’s about it. Taste was roasted malt, coffee, and smoke. Slightly bitter aftertaste. A nice solid stout. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 11, 2007 Updated: Oct 20, 2007Nice aroma: roasty, a little alcoholic, some hops. Flavor and aroma stand in great disparity. The body/palate is thin. Starts out a tad malty and roasty and then bowls you over with this odd tartness that I do not find appealing. Not my style obviously. FROTHINGSLOSH (2036), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was roasty, lightly smoky and malty. The flavor was lightly bitter and roasty with noticable chicory and a strange blending of flavors I could not quite identify yet found vaguely nauseating. Definitely not my style. glennmastrange (862), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 4, 2007 Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of toasted, almost burnt, and mild coffee and dark chocolate. Light perfume for the hops and dough for the yeast with soy sauce, brown sugar and black rum in the background. No head from my pour, maybe my fault. Color is black with a red hue when bright light passes through it. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, between dry and watery with lively carbonation and a moderately astringent finish. Good, but a bit more sweetness and this would be an awesome stout.
