natejgood (129), Denver, Colorado, USA Dec 15, 2007 Pours relatively dark with a large fluffy head that is fairly light in color compaired to the beer. It smells like coffee, malt, and a little bit like lager. The beer has a nice sweet coffee flavor with some other spices around the edges. The beer tastes nicely roasted and feels silky in the mouth.
Beerman6686 (724), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2008 Poured a flat black color with a light tan head. Aroma was lots of locorice and chicory. Flavor was much the same, too overbounding with licorice thats covers up the nice subtleties of the coffee flavor. AllAboutStout (475), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 29, 2008 Pours a blackish color on the pour. No head forms on the pour, only a slight ring develops. Smell is roasted malts and some coffee. Taste is very coffee forward. Very roasted coffee and not too much else stands a chance to make itself known. A pretty decent stout that I’m not sure if it’s a regular offering anymore. If so, it’s a good regular beer. Haslinger (525), Syracuse, New York, USA Aug 26, 2008 12 ounce bottle, thick black colored pour. Roasted coffee/chicory abounds in this beer. Good amount of malt. Nice easy to sip cold weather beer. Would buy again Angeloregon (1898), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 21, 2008 12 oz bottle from By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a thick, hardy black body with a thin soft tan head. Roasted coffee, toffee, chicory, nutty deep nose. Prickly dry, clean, dry full-bodied finish. Very enjoyable. flatmatt (78), Northville, Michigan, USA Aug 20, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours black or dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma strong dark and milk chocolates, with coffee and dark fruits backing it up. Flavor is coffee, dark chocolate, some roast. Roasted coffee builds up after several sips, but the rest of the finish is a bit too short.
