killtuba (11), Burke, Virginia, USA Jan 12, 2008 I had this at the DFH alehouse - deep choclate color with typical stout head thickness and brown color - very nutty flavor, with a malt feel and hint of coffee - finishes well with bitterness and a roasted oats aftertaste. also good in black and tan with DFH 90 IPA.
IPAaLLtHEwAY (109), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Sep 28, 2008 pours a slightly see through black with a grey head that lasts. aroma is strawberry and roast coffee. taste is honey, malt and coffee. light semi sweet chocolate. finish has some bitter and chocolate, enjoyable.
kapusta (72), Dover, Delaware, USA Sep 28, 2008 deep black in color. Very dark coffee colored head on top. Smells of roasted grains, coffee & a slightly herbal note. Very drinkable, and not heavy at all. flavor has a licorice note along with coffee. Well done, but not my favorite. Too dry. D_malone102 (95), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 25, 2008 Had this on tap at the brewpub in Rehoboth. It is roast, chocolatey goodness. Great balance and very complex. afireinside96 (498), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 21, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Deep brown color topped by a creamy tan head. Smells of coffee, roasted grains, and licorice. Licorice is very apparent in the flavor as well as chocolate & coffee. Leaves roasted notes lingering in the mouth for a long time. Beerman6686 (782), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2008 Poured a flat black color with a light tan head. Aroma was lots of locorice and chicory. Flavor was much the same, too overbounding with licorice thats covers up the nice subtleties of the coffee flavor.
