Commercial Description:
A neo-lambic ale that goes through both a yeast and bacteria fermentation and is then aged on oak chips and 400 pounds of Delaware peaches. This beer is very tart and complex. It arrives cork-finished and bottled-conditioned in champagne bottles.

2002 Vintage sampled at the DFH Ale House in Gaithersburg, MD. Pours to a murky deep golden, to orange color, with no head, and a very soft carbonation. The nose on this beer is very sour and vinous, with aromas of oak and peach. The palate is lean, but very refreshing ,with some more vinous notes, flavors of oak, and ripe fruit. Festina Lente finishes with more oak and vinious notes, and ends sour and refreshing. A very well done "neo-lambic". This beer does not enjoy a spontaneous fermentation, but it did have that characteristic "wild" taste of an authentic, very traditional lambic. Impressive domestic example of the style, and a beer that would be quite at home in Belgium. Worked well with a rich and creamy bowl of crab soup, and a crab cake sandwich.

Virtually no head. Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), with notes of peach and lime. Flavor is moderately sweet, heavily acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. A weird attempt that comes off pretty disjointed and confusing. Seems like an accident.

Belgium comes to Cooperstown. This was friggin sour. It looked sour, smelled sour, tasted sour, and felt sour. This was the first beer of the day and it really made everything else seem mellow. Very interesting beer. It wasn’t really good or bad. Kind of like grabbing an electric fence, it was invigorating but I can’t say that I loved it. I’d definately do it again, though. ;^) 3.2 Re-rate From BCTC 06. The same batch aged 1 year made a huge difference. After a year the over the top tart mellowed into a quite enjoyable beer. I’d love to come across a couple more of these to cellar and try again soon.

No head. Rotten peach nose. Golden hazy light orange color. Exceptional Lambic. Tart peach flavor and palate is very acidic. One of two bottles that are left at Colonial Spirits in Acton.

2002 bottle at the Dogfish Head Alehouse in Gaithersburg, MD. Pours a slightly hazy peachy orange color with a small light-tan head. Aroma is of FRESH peaches, vinegar, yeastiness and some lemon juice. A crisp, medium body. Very tart and peachy throughout. Pretty acidic. It is very evident that this is made from real peaches and not some artificial flavoring. A dry, bitter finish. No alcohol is noticeable at all. An excellent lambic.

GABF- Almost no head atop a yellow beer. Light horse blanket aroma w/some hops. Peaches in their normal fashion did not age well. Heavy acidity. Somewhat one dimensionally sour.

bottle. thanks a lot for sharing this Len. 2004 vintage. murky orange-golden body with no head. aroma is great!! mostly apricot in terms of fruit though there is a little bit of sweet peach coming through. it’s mildly tart but not quite mouthpuckering. refreshing wheat body and once again, I get even less peach than I did in the nose and find that there is a lot of apricot flavour. in a lot of ways it reminds me of the FouFoune, which I guess isn’t all that crazy. a very good example of the style.

Thanks goes out to IMTHEOPTIMATOR for sending this one my way! Pours no head, flat and still looking. Cloudy orange body.Apricot, sour brab apples, and yeasty esters fill the nose. Flavours are sour fruit, semi-tart apricots, and lemon jiuce. Tart aftertaste. Alcohol no noticable. A well made American Lambic that keeps up with most of the belgian ones I have had. 04’ Vintage.
