thefrutigers (100), , Arizona, USA May 24, 2009 bottle: Pours golden with diminishing white head. Smells sour and fruity. Flavor was like a tart lightly peach soda. Vey tasty on a warm summer Arizona afternoon. Nice DoctorDog (6), , Ohio, USA does not count May 24, 2009 12oz. bottle into a nonic. "BOTTLED IN: 2009 C3" stamped on the back of the neck.
Pours a hazy straw yellow/ light golden. ~1 finger of effervescent white head, which unsurprisingly fades nearly instantly to nothing. No lacing noted.
Smell has a slightly unusual tart, corny/grassy/wheat characteristic. I’m straining to detect hints of peaches, but fail. Not bad, just a bit unusual.
The taste is tart. Very tart. I feel like the primary flavors here are citric and ascorbic acid. These must be some extraordinarily young, extremely concentrated peaches....
Feels crisp and light.
Overall, not so great. Just too tart and acidic to drink more than one. I don’t think Berliner Weisse is a style that I enjoy tremendously as a stand alone drink, but with it’s assertive acidic flavoring, I could see it being much more enjoyable paired with some select dishes. SAVertigo (15), Shillington, Pennsylvania, USA May 24, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle purchased from "The Beer Mart" here in Shillington.
The smell is a very nice peachy lemony smell.
The pour is a giant initial head, which almost immediately vanishes completely.
First taste "BITTER BEER FACE!", after spending a lot of time with much sweeter beers, this was a blast in the face. But in a good way.
Its not really bitter, its tart. It reminds me of alcoholic peach lemonade. The kind of thing your girlfriend would order at a bar and pay $8 for during happy hour instead of having a beer.
Very tasty. Very different. Very Dogfish. RHeastings (377), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 22, 2009 Enjoyed via 12oz bottle in a mini pilsner glass. Pours a brilliant yellow to golden color. Nose is of a touch of peach. The palate is tart, not overlly so, kind of like freshly squeezed lemonade. The tartness is cut to a certain extent by the peaches. Overall, a cool idea and not a bad summer thirst quencher. carruthm (1109), Seattle, Washington, USA May 21, 2009 Aroma is a subtle peach to start and then blossoms into a full on fruity nose. Very nice. A hint of floral hops as well. Poured flat with no head and barely any carbonation at all. Super pale yellow color and opaque. Taste is slightly sour and lightly bitter. Palate is thin and watery, the taste leaving a weak memory on the tongue. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA May 20, 2009 Bottle. Tart fruity aroma. Hazy yellow body, small white head. Flavor is tart, a touch of fruit, although peaches are hardly evident. Very different and refreshing. SFLpunk (132), South Burlington, Vermont, USA May 19, 2009 12oz brown glass pry-top. Bottled in 2009 F.
Appearance: Clear, yellow straw color with thin white head.
Nose: Funky, horse saddle leather, old peach pits, mold. (All the funk blows off in a couple minutes.) Lemon rind, thai lime.
Palate: Clean and crisp. Sour peach and sour apple flavors with a dollop of funky earth on the finish. Some lemon pulp too. Cleaner after a few minutes.
Notes: Not as great as I remembered...but after a few minutes, most of the funk blows off and it’s refreshing and crisp - like peach lemonade. slowrunner77 (58), reno, USA May 15, 2009 a surprisingly tart, but slightly underwhelming beer. i was actually hoping for just a touch more peach, but fully enjoyed the refrshing tart aspect. less complex than i expected, but a nice summer ale.
