SFLpunk (132), South Burlington, Vermont, USA May 19, 2009 12oz brown glass pry-top. Bottled in 2009 F.
Appearance: Clear, yellow straw color with thin white head.
Nose: Funky, horse saddle leather, old peach pits, mold. (All the funk blows off in a couple minutes.) Lemon rind, thai lime.
Palate: Clean and crisp. Sour peach and sour apple flavors with a dollop of funky earth on the finish. Some lemon pulp too. Cleaner after a few minutes.
Notes: Not as great as I remembered...but after a few minutes, most of the funk blows off and it’s refreshing and crisp - like peach lemonade. slowrunner77 (58), reno, USA May 15, 2009 a surprisingly tart, but slightly underwhelming beer. i was actually hoping for just a touch more peach, but fully enjoyed the refrshing tart aspect. less complex than i expected, but a nice summer ale. GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA May 4, 2009 The perfect summer beer. Light, refreshing and full of sweet and sour peach flavor. Not much more needs to be said. This should be a year-round beer in Florida. GJF (480), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA May 2, 2009 This doesn’t work so much for me. Pours a hazy straw color, very overcarbonated but no real head--more like cider? There’s a tart quality along with an almost syrupy quality to the peach. This might work on a very hot day, maybe with something on the grill, but didn’t really wow me at all. FlssmrBrewAlum (1079), Lisle, Illinois, USA Apr 29, 2009 12 oz. bottle courtesy of Binny’s Willowbrook (Willowbrook, IL). Pours an interesting golden straw hazy hue, small bubbly white head that dissipates to nothing, very well carbonated. Aromas are a touch grainy, with some nice tartness and peach coming through in decent amounts. Initial is light bodied, pushing a nice lemony tartness over the palate. Lemon zest and oils mix well with the peach, which sweetens a bit but also gives the tartness a more mellow and complex feel. Finish leaves some light sourness and a touch of flaked wheat in the aftertaste, mingling with the fruit. This is nice, sessionable, and tasty.. it just isn’t that pretty and could use a little more body, even for the style. Cheers! GweedoeBrew (3), USA does not count Apr 22, 2009 I think this was my first berliner wiesse beer. I was awesomely tart/sour.... It had a light to medium body with cloudy...almost white look to it... This is definitely not a beer for the novice beer drinker.... it will take a developed palate to appreciate this beer fully. yayforbeer (641), Orange Park, Florida, USA Apr 20, 2009 Sample at the Total Wine Beerfest, Jacksonville FL 04-18-2009. Strongly sour/tart, definitely a Berliner Weisse, with a little peach flavor peeking through the tartness. Berliners are way too tart for me... not my thing at all. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Apr 19, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a cloudy, pale yellow body with no head or lacing. Lots of rising carbonation. Aroma is malty and cidery. Some honey, wheat, and semi-tart peaches and lemons. Flavor is a little better. Starts light and malty with a honey taste before moving into a fruity, somewhat sour, acidic finish. Mostly citrus and peach. Leaves a smooth honey flavor in the aftertaste with some light tart fruits. Light to medium bodied and refreshing. A touch of spritzy carbonation on the back of the tongue. Overall, a fairly well balanced beer, but rather lame. Not really my thing.
