mnurda (434), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Aug 7, 2008 Not as peachy as I thought it would be. Quite a nice fruit flaour. Thanks to Piscator for the sample. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Aug 7, 2008 Bottled sample via radiomgb. Light gold in colour with lively carbonation. Strong citric notes dominate the aroma, with some secondary elements of stale malt, flowers, and peaches. Not too peach-like in the mouth, but there’s a fair bit of lemon and dry malt flavor. Pretty much bone dry on the palate. Refreshing, tart, and mild, and perhaps a little thin. Pretty good overall. Tripplebrew (486), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Aug 3, 2008 Pours a very hazy honey gold with very thin white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is like a carbonated peach juice. Flavor is tart peach and wheat. Body is light and highly carbonated. Definitely reminiscent of a champagne. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Aug 3, 2008 Hazy golden with a thin head. Nice tart wheat and sour peach aromas. Smooth with light carbonation. Nice mildly sour pit fruit flavors with tart wheat mirrors the aroma. Not too bad... Draft@ Belmont Station’s Pucker Fest. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 3, 2008 Pours yellow with rising bubbles of carbonation. Slightly sweet smell of peaches. Fruity sweet flavor is where you really get the peach. Sticky but satisfying finish. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 3, 2008 I’m not usually big on fruit beers, but Dogfish Head seems to do an excellent job brewing these (Actually they do an excellent job with just about everything). This beer poured a light gold color with little head and little lacing. Aroma is, you guessed it, peach. Not too heavy though. Taste was crisp and tart. This beer is definately a summer staple in my fridge. Great Dogfish brew. JAXSON (229), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 1, 2008 Updated: Jul 4, 2009A difficult beer to rate, as the recipe apparently changed from 2007 to 2008, and the character of the beer is now much different. This year’s offering has no head but alot of prickly carbonation. Strange flavor of peaches gushing somewhere beneath the surface, but it’s so overwhelmed by the massive tartness and acidity that it’s hard to appreciate. Last year’s version felt more well-rounded, with a good dose of sourness but not quite as sickly a one as this. It’s not all that enjoyable right now, though still interesting, but I have to give props to this beer based on last year’s bottlings, which were fantastic.
Edit - The 2009 version is the bomb. GarrettB (494), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 1, 2008 Another adored bottle of Dogfish Head has come into my posession, and I am once again thrilled with what they’ve made. This time it was the lighter, more jovial Festina Peche, a so called "Malt Beverage" with "Peach Concentrate." I like malt beverages, and I like peach concentrate, so there’s no reason why this can’t be a splendid drink - and it is. To my eyes the Festina Peche looks a lot like a wit bier, with a heavy cloudiness and a light yellow and gold color, though this drink may be a hair darker than your typical wit. The fresh scent of peach flesh builds the base of the aroma, which is light, bright and refreshing. Lemon, pepper and a pinch of alcohol mix with a light strawberry aroma and an orange dryness to compose a tantalizingly delicious but ephemeral aroma. The flavor is twin to the aroma, but adds a layer of tangerine and citrus tanginess, along with an extra spoonful of passion fruit sweetness (in lieu of some of the aroma’s peachiness.) The tanginess is superb, and cooperates swimmingly with the other flavor elements. Nicely balanced sweetness, like, quenching, delightfully tangy and overall delicious, the Festina Peche is a remarkable beer and apt for the Spring months.
