BleacherBum (176), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA Jan 16, 2008 I’m a sucker for this style on a warm/hot day. Cloudy, straw color. Typical berliner flavor with some extra sourness to the flavor (from the peaches, I assume). This is a great, low alcohol, session beer for those summer days. Fruity and dry (not sweet at all) with just the slightest hint of spicy hop. I wonder if Dogfish brought this wort to a boil or just mashed it (typical for this style). Thanks for an under consumed (and under appreciated) style of beer! humuloneranger (8), Oregon, USA does not count Jan 16, 2008 wow! one of the most original beers i’ve tasted all year. sour, smooth, drinkable... this is a unique beer. hate it or love it? i think it’s a keeper. and what kind of yeast did they use? emerson430 (87), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Jan 14, 2008 Updated: Aug 6, 2008One of my new favorites ... light golden, unfiltered yellow. Wonderful, unassuming peach flavors but plenty of lactic acid flavors. If you like sours this is a wonderful balanced beer. dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA Jan 14, 2008 Pours cloudy pale gold, with a very bubbly thick white head. Sour bitter peach aroma. Taste is dry, sour, peachy, and refreshing. Very easy to drinking for something so sour. While not the usual over the top beer from Dogfish, an interesting spin on a long forgotten style. While some people may be turned off by this, I give DFH credit for trying something a little daring. Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA Jan 8, 2008 Not sure what an awesome ass brewer like DFH was going for with this one, but I sure as hell don’t like it.
Cloudy straw colored with a pretty decent head.
Smells sorta sweet but not too much of anything on the aroma.
Tastes sweet and bitter at the same time. Sort of like wine, I guess. Don’t care for it very much.
Won’t be having this one again. BuckeyeBoy (1645), Boise, Idaho, USA Jan 5, 2008 12oz Bottle pours out a light gold with a very small head. The head is gone in a moment. A light fruit aroma. Tast is very tart and dry. This is my first of this style not to bad I guess. This brew was not what i was thinking it would be. techdiver (22), USA Jan 4, 2008 Pours a cloudy straw color with modest head that dissipates quickly.
Peach and sour apple nose.
Taste shows more of the sour character. A nice change from another of my summertime favorites, Flanders Red Ale.
Crisp and refreshing in the mouth. Appears to be well carbonated, but this appears to be due to the tart character.
Pretty drinkable stuff, definitely an easy drinking quality. Must admit this is a pleasant surprise.
MegannageM (8), USA does not count Jan 3, 2008 God Lord. Unripened peaches ACK. Anyways, pours a light cloudy yellow. Aroma is very mellow, citrus and a light yeasty smell. Not at all what I was expecting. Super tart and dry the only thing that comes to mind is unripe fruit. Interesting to say the least.
