SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Dec 3, 2007 Pours a weak yellow with a minuscule white head.
Very light fruit aroma, sugared peaches.
Tart, a bit sour, but no real flavor here.
Sorry, I poured this one out.
aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Dec 1, 2007 Pours a heavily hazed yellow. There is plenty of sediment in the bottle, but I only allowed a little to enter the glass. The head is fleeting. The fruit is fairly subtle. I don’t think I would have noticed the peach in the aroma or flavor if I weren’t looking for it. There’s a nice crisp tartness and a spritzy body. This would make for a nice summer beer. vadavid (131), Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA Nov 29, 2007 Updated: Jan 24, 2008Poured into nonic pint with a think white head. The beer is pale yellow, slightly cloudy. The aroma gives a hint of the tartness to come. The taste is indeed very tart. If you aren’t expecting this it could be a shock. I don’t detect much peach flavor. This is a very refreshing beer that I enjoyed through the summer. It’s great after finishing up working in the yard. The low ABV makes it a very sessionable beer. I had a couple left in the refrigerator that I’m enjoying now rather than keeping them longer. They’ve lost a bit of the cheek sucking tartness of the fresher botttles but still enjoyable. Will look for this again next year to enjoy during the dog days of summer. footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Nov 28, 2007 Yeah, another drain pour from DFH. One sip and that ended up in the sink. Low character alert my ass BudWeiser (10), West Linn, Oregon, USA Nov 26, 2007 12 oz bottle. Tart like raw a peach. Clean and clear finish though. Does have a lemon like zing to it. Could be refreshing on a hot day. No hint of any hops at all. TheEnemy (422), Chicago, USA Nov 25, 2007 12oz bottle I have to admit that I don’t really know how to rate this beer because I’ve hated every example of the Berliner Weisse style I’ve erstwhile sampled, even when they’ve been sweetened with fruit or woodruff syrup. I try not to rate beers of a style I hate because I tend to limit my exposure them and I doubt my ability to rate examples fairly. On the other hand, I found this beer to be fairly enjoyable and thoroughly drinkable, which makes me question its fidelity to the style; and said fidelity is a factor I place considerable emphasis on when rating a beer. So the moral of the story is that I’m kind of shooting from the hip in rating this beer, so take that under advisement while reading further.
<P>Pours a cloudy, pale straw-yellow with a bubbly, pillowy white head that quickly fades out of sight. A constant, almost mesmerizing stream of bubbles dances from the bottom and sides of the glass. Aroma is pleasant but simple, just apricots and sour wild yeast. Flavor is similar, though showing a hint of grassy hops and slightly more sour than the aroma, but not so sour as to overwhelm the apricot flavor. (Yeah, I know this stuff is peach-flavored, but it tastes all the world like apricot to me, I suspect because the strong sour characteristic of the Berliner-Weiss style dilutes much of the peach sweetness until it tastes like apricot.) Palate is thinnish as per style, yet with a staying finish as the apricot (peach, whatever) flavors stick to the tongue and roof of the mouth. It took me a while to warm up to this beer, but I found myself liking it more and more with each sip. Not a breakthrough beer, but suitably pleasant. kapusta (84), Dover, Delaware, USA Nov 21, 2007 In my mind, undrinkable. Overly sour and tart, with absolutely no peach aroma/taste to speak of. Maybe it was the style, maybe it is me? demitriustown (689), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA Nov 21, 2007 12 oz bottle: Aroma is sour lemon and peach off the first sniff. A subtle wheat texture with a more lemon than anything into the scent. Pours a cloudy light yellow with a huge white head that lingers around forever it seems. Taste has a sour acidic taste to it. Definitely similar to the other Berliner Weisse that I’ve tried. Some wheat characteristics intermingled with an, oh so, light peach texture. Overall, I thought peach was going to be a more substantial contributed to this brew. As a Berliner it lives up to expectations, but I wish there was more of a peach flavor in this brew.
