A deep Orange beer with a thin head. This beer had a deep fruity aroma from the start. The beer was very sour in my opinion. There was a deep fruity flavor and the sour finish made this not an average Fruit/Berliner Weisse beer. Just some odd sour notes in the finish this was not my beer but I am sure others will like it.

Hazy yellow amber with a fizzy white head. Malty peach aroma, tangy peach seltzer taste. Decent.

Update, draft, Spring/Summer 2008 version. This year’s batch of Festina Peche seems to be much more tart than the 2007 version, which is a welcomed trend in my book. The palate also seems lighter, drier, and more refreshing. I love this beer, and will look forward to it every year.

Original rating, July 2007. Pour is a cloudy pale yellow with a small white head that recedes to a thin film. Virtually no lacing noted. Aroma shows acidic lemon, grapefruit, and peach notes atop a lightly sweet, wheat malt base. Flavors are ascorbic, borderline sour, up front, with that sweet wheat coming through to balance out the pH. Light and refreshing, but getting just a touch syrupy on the finish, but still very drinkable. Very good.

12oz bottle dated 6/1/07. pours slightly hazy straw with white head. nose musty, peaches. flavor tart at first but that fades intoa dull peach juice. flavor really lacks depth and finishes short. sorta buttery. DFH what have you done for me lately?

12oz bottle. A hazy light yellow pour, tart and refreshing, but I really didn’t get any peach flavor out of it.

Bottled on 6/01. Poured a somewhat hazy, pale gold. Medium white head; quickly diminished. Aroma of peach, sugar, lemon and some slight tartness. Very dry finish; alot of acidity as well. Medium to light bodied. Flavor was tart peach and yeast. My first for the style, although I’m thinking this might not be the best example of the style. This definitely interested me; but I did not find it overly enjoyable.

7/13/2007: Dogfish Head Festina Pêche pours a cloudy, pale yellow color. There is ample carbonation and a foamy white head that leaves some ribbon-like lacing. The aroma has delicate, ripe peaches mingled with some slightly sour wheat maltiness. The flavor begins with naturally sweet peach, then the wheat become more noticeable, and finally some tartness and floral notes towards the finish. The peach aroma and flavor fades away more and more after each drink and after awhile it tastes nearly like a non-fruited Berliner Wiesse. However, step away for a moment and come back and then the peach is apparent again. This is a light beer that is crisp and refreshing. It feels like bubbly champagne in the mouth. I had originally picked this up for my wife and she didn’t think that it was too bad. I have now had four different Berliner Weisse style beers, and I have found that I really enjoy this obscure style. Beers of this style are quite unique and very interesting. I’m glad that more and more brewers are resurrecting the Berliner Weisse style!

2007 Vintage

10/13/2008: Dogfish Head Festina Pêche has a subtle aroma of peaches and is slightly yeasty. The color is pale marigold. It is cloudy, highly carbonated, and has a whipped white head that is long lasting. The light flavor has tart peaches with a squeeze of lemon juice in it. This beer is light-bodied, refreshing, and lively on the palate, but it doesn’t come across as overcarbonated. Overall this beer is similar to a dry white wine with peaches and a good level of tartness. This beer is still quite tasty!
