Raisin and port like flavors. No surprise since these go hand in hand. Raspberries all over the place in this beer. Again not a big surprise. Nose is hot. Palette gets hot as well on the finish. Still the heat isn’t overwhelming. Not as sweet as some lead me to believe. Not a favorite but worth splitting with a beer buddy.

Bottle from 2007. Pours a hazy, orange color with a very small, white head. Lacing is excellent. Aromas of raspberries (expected), port, wine, and a hint of raisin. Lively carbonation with an oily texture. Flavors of alcohol initially, then turns to raspberries and finishes with nice sweetness similar to ice wine or port. Overall an interesting beer but I doubt I could drink more than 1-2 glasses.

Bottle courtesy of sixfootsix. Pours a hazy amber with wispy white head. Nose is definitely hot, even with a year of age to it. Some vinegar, but not like an infection, and a hint of berry. Flavors are very mellow once you get past the initial alcohol burn. Notes of honey and raspberry. Body is syrupy with mild carbonation. Nice warming, verging on being hot. Slight tart raspberry on the finish. Extra points for such a unique, high abv. Good as a substitute for a dessert wine or a port.

draft at hopleaf. this thing smells like raspberry potpourri and massive alcohol. it tastes hardly like beer, instead like a wine/beer mix of massive raspberry alcohol type. i had the 18%abv WWS after this, and that didn’t taste nearly as alcoholic. this got a little bit better as time went by, but i’d certainly never get it again.

This is one wicked powerful beer, if you can call it a beer. WOW! It’s like downing a six-pack. The 18% ABV is definitely noticeable. The raspberries are actually pretty noticeable. It’s not overly sweet. You can NOT drink this one fast unless you want to get drunk. I certainly liked it, but there are better things to drink. It looks like a slightly discolored Bloody Mary when you pour it. I would be more than willing to drink this again. Good stuff overall! It certainly packs a wallop!

I have no idea why my old rating got deleted, but there you go. A perennial favorite at GABF, Fort has a solid raspberry aroma and flavor to accompany the hazy red body. When young. Young, this beer is a little strong on the alcohol but Ive had the pleasure of drinking bottles with 12-24 months on them and the beer mellows considerably with that kind of age.

Pours a dark hazy orange with a fizzy white head that fades way too fast. Nose is candied berries with a strong yeasty and earthy thing. alochol noted. Flavor is strong in alcohol with raspberry accents. Kinda tasted like a weak raspberry vodka. Never tasted this fresh, but its not my favorite fruit beer. I think the high alcohol content might have something to do with it.

It is reddish with a small, creamy head. The aroma has a lot of raspberries and sweetness, and it is a bit vinous. The flavour has a strong sweetness in a vinous kind of way, notes of loads of raspberries, a light berry acidity, raspberry jam, and towards the finish I find a hint of anise. The alcohol is well hidden and being as strong as it is, it is great for sharing with friends as a wine for the desert.
