| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 20, 2009 Ive tried several rasperry ales but none really pull it off save this one. It pours a deep red/orange with a strong raspberry liqueur aroma. It has a smooth texture with a strong raspberry front and a malt finish. There is no tartness theat one might expect. Would be great with chocolate. sinkr (240), Lusby, Maryland, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 17, 2009 750->flute: pours a large, off-white head that exhibits spare lacing atop a cloudy, amber body. Aroma of cedar and glue. The body is light, texture alcoholic, and the finish astringent. The flavor’s duration is long and is heavily sweet. I really want to like Dofgish Head’s beers, but most of them end up just being off in the weirdo spectrum like this beer. kapusta (84), Dover, Delaware, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Jul 11, 2009 ruby red clear body with absolutely no head to speak of. Aroma is of sweet raspberry and alcohol. Taste is the same, overly alcoholic and sweet. I could not taste any hops or malt, just alcohol. Way too strong and sweet for me. This is the only Dogfish I found that I do not care for. Headbanger (1600), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 7, 2009 750ml bottle ’07 Bottle 7/6/09 (Binny’s Naperville)-Pours an apple juice body with a small ring for a head. Aroma of sweetness, syrupy, sherry, and alcohol. Taste of alcohol and raspberry and nothing else. This full bodied brew is way too hot and it takes away from what possibly could be a nice tasting beer. Not what I was hoping for. mspindler (351), Alta Loma, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 4, 2009 Bottle from Bottleworks. Pours like apple juice with no head. Aroma is sherry and tart berries with a bit of vinegar. Flavor is overly sweet with too much alcohol. Finishes boozy and hot. Full bodied and sticky with low carbonation. Not what I expected. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 4, 2009 2008 bottle from Bottleworks Seattle. Clear golden color with no head. Aroma of fresh raspberries, sweet honey, and sherry. Very strong and sweet. Thought this would be lighter and more of a refreshing beer. This thing would kick my ass with the giant bottle that it comes in. Not too great MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 25, 2009 Bottle purchased at that one place in Orlando, Knightly Spirits? Yeah, I think that was it. Bottled in 2008, I have been waiting patiently to crack this bad boy open. And what better time than now: a huge storm just rolled in and knocked half of the giant tree in my back yard down. Right onto the neighbors car, but caused no damage! Hurrah! This pour here is a nice clean copper color with a thin head. Aroma is boozy when agitated, but really has a sweet side to it, delicate, likes long walks in the woods, photography and boobies. Wait, that’s me. The beer on the other hand has a good sweet balance between some malt presence and genuine preserve-like sweetness. The flavor is a little rough compared to the other super high ABV dogfish offerings. On the plus side, my woman could smell the booze as she came upstairs. Once you get past the first half glass, this really opens up. Partially since I’m now past the legal limit to operate an automobile, in Russia, if you are an ex KGB mafia statesman. It actually reminds me of Founders Rubaeus. Yeah, this is impressive: yes, someone can make an 18% beer that isn’t an super flavorful style, but it doesn’t hide the rough edges that well. Really, this is a little strong for flavor, but the flavor is nice. A good blend of malt and berry hanging out under the alcohol tree. Hank1980 (765), Athens, Georgia, USA
