This was served from a 750ml bottle into a Dogfish Head snifter. It was bottled on 11/13/06 and consumed on 1/24/06. It pours a beautiful red color with a very thin off white head that dies quickly. It smells more like wine than beer actually. Behind the strong winey smell is a slight raspberry aroma. I forgot while I was first drinking it that it is 18% alcohol, but in retrospect that explains the taste well. It reminds me of port wine, but is less sweet and slightly hotter. The raspberry flavor is only present in the background. This is a very light bodied beer. I’m not sure whether I like this beer or not. I suppose for 18% ABV, the hotness is to be expected in such a light beer, but it does make it slightly hard to drink. The flavor behind the hotness is good though, and if you’re looking to get drunk, this will work. I have a second bottle that I am going to let age for at least a year and try it again. I expect that some of the hotness will be gone by then.

Pours a reddish/orange. Smells strongly of berries and alcohol. The taste is sweet and strong with a very sour finish.

Nice fruity aroma of overpowering raspberries. Opaque orange/light brown color with thin head. Taste is sweet, however, it has too warm of a finish due to the high amount of alcohol. I thought it was a little overpowering. I actually didn’t realize that it was 18% until I got on here...I might be feeling good after this bottle. If you are going for a sweeter, lighter fruit beer, then New Glarus Raspberry Tart is the one for you.

Opaque orange rust color with thin off-white head, and nice lacing. Aroma is crazy... like boozy fermented persimmons and blood orange. Taste is sweet and seriously fruity, but I can’t even put my finger on what exactly it is, until the raspberry aftertaste kicks in on exhalation. Serious warming alcohol presence, and cloying sweetness makes this a sipper. Five ounces into a glass, and its effects can be easily felt. $18/750ml

This is an unfiltered burnt orange body topped with just a small white head that leaves quickly. This has tons of fruit aromas, including orange, lemon, cherry, and huge cranberry aromas. The flavor has a lot more malt than the aroma let on. However, there is a little bit of cough syrup flavor along. Not a huge fan of the aftertaste, however.

pours a clear amber red with strong sweet aroma, very sweet front with Warm finish of Alchohol. strong and fronted with mild dry aftertaste. good and aggressive, too early for a full glass but great on a sampler and to share.

Bottle dated 11/28/05: I went into this expecting something akin to Blushing Monk and I got Robitussin instead. Pours a cloudy orange/brown with no head. Aroma consists of stale raspberries, caramel malt and alcohol. Flavor pretty much follows this outline but with an added shiver factor. Each time I took a sip of this I felt a chill run down my spine, and not in a good way. Way too much alcohol for seemingly no reason and a very bad raspberry flavor overall gives this a thumbs down.
