| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 14, 2007 750 ml bottle in GI Matilda tulip. Purchased 2005. Light brown with tinges of pink. Thin head. Sweet raspberry smell. taste is all raspberry of course, with additional notes of cherry and candi sugar. I’m thinking a Belgian base and a warm ale ferment. Likable, though a medicinal taste wanders in and out. Hides its alcohol well, and fruitiness is held in place by malts. WallyWalrus (205), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 13, 2007 750ml bottle. Pours a cloudy reddish-amber with almost no head or carbonation. Aroma is extremely strong and sweet, with the smell of raspberries and alcohol alongside a molasses-like sweetness (similar to that in the 120 Minute IPA). Body is fairly light with a strong raspberry taste being followed by a boozy bite and a lingering rum-like finish of syrupy sweetness. Interesting handicraft, but I’d go with New Glarus or a lambic next time (and get it at half the price). Elizavyeta (110), Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 13, 2007 Pleasantly fruity (apples, pears, strawberries) with a rose-like hue and cloudy head.
Overall flavor is somewhat misleading - the first inclination is towards that of a medicinal, boozy raspberry syrup, but quickly transforms into a dark, toasty malt flavor with sallow fruit flavors.
Serve along shortbread for a rich and mouth-coating feel that would temper the "fort" quality of this beer. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 2, 2007 Plenty of mixed reviews on this one. Mine is a two year old sample, bottled on 11/28/05...
Appears an orange toned amber with a 2 finger, foamy, white head that quickly fades into a mild cap and collar. At first pour, there are a few floaters in there. Upon closer inspection, they are a few stray pieces of seperated raspberry puree complete with seeds.
Smell is remarkable and addictive from the first inhale. Notes of ripe raspberries, and freshly baked rhubarb pie with strawberries. Very intriguing and delightful.
Taste is that of an after dinner cordial that’s been infused with ripe raspberries, caramelized sugar, and freshly cut strawberries.
Mouthfeel...I was expecting an over the top alcohol bomb judging by other reviews but I found this to be just the right amount of warmness to compliment the sweetness. I could compare this to some of the better Tawny Ports I’ve had. Save it, sit on it for a few years, drink it on a special occasion after dinner with some chocolate truffells, or creme brulee. kreepindeth (405), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 16, 2007 Aroma of alcohol, anise, fruit, brown sugar, jelly. Sticky, syrupy and hot. This is just too slimy and sweet for me. Alcohol and berry in the finish. I couldn’t imagine drinking more than a couple of ounces of this. oakbluff (300), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Pours out a rose colour with minal head and some lacing. Nose- raspberry jam and honey. Taste- yeesh- hot boozy sweet raspberries. Fuck, that’s not good for business. Its just too damn sweet. Its the same sweetness I’ve not enjoyed in some other DFH offerings. The raspberries are nice enough, but the its just too hot and sickly sweet. Not enjoyable whatsoever. Why did I crack this one by myself? Better yet, why didn’t I buy two bottles of raspberry tart that were in eye sight of this abomination??? Not a happy drinking experience. I think if this had been toned down a tad it would have turned out better. good for DFH to experiment, just don’t bottle it and charge me almost $20 for it! xmarcnolanx (798), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 13, 2007 Poured at the GABF, 2006 edition (they were out of the WWS from 2004, bastards). Actually, this surprised me. Poured a fizzy, dull ruby with a white head. Taste was strongly raspberry and quite refreshing with a nice crisp kick at the end. Almost no noticeable heat. Solid when aged a little. Dough77 (777), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Pours out easy brown kind of red minmal white head. Nose is big on raspberry. Flavor is also potent raspberry witha nice sweet alcohol touch to it. Actually a nice drinkable beer. But a 750 will do just fine.
