1pint, 9.6oz brown bottle from Ron’s in Farmington. Slightly murky yet translucent red-orange body with less than an inch of off-white head. Smells fruity, like berries, though not necessarily as raspberry-like as one might expect. Tastes berry-like with just a little alcohol warming on the finish. While it’s medium bodied and definitely a sipper, it’s not a syruppy or overwealming as I expected. Very drinkable considering the alcohol strength. Not bad. Not something I’d get all the time, but well-done.

not a huge fan of fruit in my beer - because most of the time, they don’t end up tasting like beer - this one proved me wrong. first sip is a little bit of a shock to my mouth - but in the end, it carries that 18% very well and the raspberries come through with every sip.

THOUGHTS: This was the only bottle I saw in the store so I thought it must have been one of last years batch so I was a little surprised at how harsh it was, but I later found out it was mostly likely the first bottle out just to see where one of the stock people were going to put the rest of them. I would definitely let this age for a while if I get another bottle. I love sweet beer, even overly sweet beer, but this was even too much for me. Great flavor for a fruit beer but way too intense overall. Still a pretty good beer though, but it has the potential to be great with some aging. I definitely liked the flavor, but there was just too much of it. It was like drinking candy. There was a nice sour underneath everything, but it was overpowered by the candy sweetness. It was oily at first but then very dry in my mouth later. I guess this was my first really astringent beer. I imagine this is what drinking raspberry-flavored witch hazel would be like. A must try for those who like ot try something different, but by all means, age it a while. It even started to hurt my teeth. If it were a liqueur, I would say it hid the alcohol well, but it was a beer so I’d have to say it didn’t do the best job of it. It was present in the aroma and flavor and I could even feel it in my eyes. TECHNICAL: Poured a medium orange-brown with an average, off-white head that diminished quickly and left fair lacing. The aroma was harsh malt sweetness, with rasberry, honey, sour fruit and alcohol. The initial flavor was heavy sweetness and sour fruit and the finish flavor was harsh sweetness and even more sour fruit with a long duration. The body was full and both oily and syrupy with fizzy carbonation. The finish feel was chalky, heavily astringent and moderately alcoholic.

I have had this beer before, but this bottle is dated as "bottled on 11/03/06". The last time I had this beer it was "out of season". I found the fresh bottle a blend of alcohol and a hint of raspberries. I remember the last bottle being more ras with the alcohol being toned down. I might be crazy but I found it to be a bit young. Still will buy bottles and celler them though!!!!!!!&#

Bottle 11.13.06. Pours orange red with pale pink head. Aroma is cider, raspberry, tart plum, sour. Flavor is raspberry, wheat, alcohol. The alcohol is very overpowering. Perhaps this beer would have been better aged.

Why, oh why did I slam this at Columbus Tasting 5? Lightly sour aroma from a brown and red body. Thin palate. This stuff tastes like cherry Kool-Aid and booze. Very sweet and hot.
