Cloudy red amber color; the head disappears immediately with a fizz. Some aroma of raspberries and alcohol. Medium body strength, some sweetnees, some sour raspberries, tartness; the alcohol is burning and the bitterness at the end is too much for a fruit beer. Almost unpleasant. And I don’t want to remember how much i paid…

750ml bottle pours amber with a short ping head. Raspberry and alcohol in the aroma. Flavor is raspberry, and some caramel. Quite sweet and almost syrupy. Big boozy finish really turned me off though. This one is definitely a sipper..

Poured from bottle. Nice reddish amber color. Very sweet berry smell. Lots of bubbles. Tasted rasberries, honey and grapes. Like drinking watered down wine. It was good. Some kind of spice I could not indentify.

First impression, much different looking than I expected. Amber color with perhaps a tint of pink. Somewhat fizzy head that settles to a lid of off-white bubbles. Raspberry jam mixed with a touch of wheat and cherry brandy. Certainly has all the flavors of fermented raspberries. Has a mild woody presence in the middle that seems to come in with some grain alcohol. This begs to be placed in a cream sauce or cheesecake or frosting. A dessert brew that in small quantities is enjoyable. more the a sniffter is a real challenge.

Pours with heavy carbonation and lasting white head. Pinkish amber with lots of bubbles. Aroma is pure raspberries, no surprise there. Taste is one-dimensional, sour, alcohol-soaked raspberries. Very boring, not very good.

Getting better after a year. Not as boozy and more raspberry jam quality.

Magnum bottled in November of 2006. Pours a radiant copper body, chill hazed, with a small almond head that quickly falls to a skim and collar of pinkish fringe. Aroma is surprisingly subtle for a DFH, with berry jam and model airplane glue(in a good way). Moderate carbonation seems spritzy on the medium body. Sweet doughy malt in the taste with sweet/tart raspberries, a note of grapefruit, and model airplane glue again. Berries are much more subdued than expected from a fresh bottle. Finish is quite dry with a note of citrus rind. Very drinkable for such an enormous fruit beer. Somewhat enigmatic, as are many DFH offerings.

A good pour of amber red. Head that goes away to leave a nice lacing. A strong finish that reminds you how strong it is

1 pt 9.6 fl oz bottle. Deep orange with a hint of red. Small creamy off-white head that subsides after a little while. Strawberry aroma. Jam. Sweet berry aromas. Slightly acidic, but not much raspberry so far. Little noticeable alcohols. Sharp hop bitterness. Alcoholic flavours balanced by a rich berry aroma. Still strawberries. Not really complex, but very distinct and rich. Particularly sweet and bitter. Intense raspberry flavours after a while.
