| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 24, 2009 Bottle sample courtesy of Milos- A slightly hazed orange/deep gold, with a thin ring of white head. Nose is raspberry puree with sugar and alcohol, pungent hops, perfume and some oak. Tastes very strong. Of alcoholic raspberries with a bunch of fresh hops added in. Potent. A bit woodsy with a metallic twang towards the end from the alcohol. Pretty intense overall, but as it warms it does grow on you and becomes more enjoyable. Strong fruity finish with lengthy hop bitterness. Good stuff. Thanks Milos! coldmeat23 (233), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Beautiful golden amber color. Slow pour still produces a massive head of medium density foam. Great retention and some pretty good lacing.
Fresh, tart raspberries still permeate the nose. Slight booziness. Slight sweet malt presence.
The tart raspberries are here on the tongue. Along with a strong malty backbone. Some yeasty bread-like presence. Alcohol warmth is present, and a little more than it it should be, perhaps, but it is not overbearing.
It starts a tad bit on the sweet side, but finishes quite dry.
Mouthfeel is creamy yet abit prickly, at the same time. Interestingly unique.
As a special occasion brew, this would be very recommended.
Not designed for everyday consumption.
Good dessert beer.
Have it with something spicey and flavorful. BrotherGrendel (604), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Bottle at PP Carlsbad. Dense dark orange hue, light swathes of white foam. Nose is rich raspberries, light fruits and wood, boozey alcohol. Flavor follows suit with big fruity esters and body, raspberry and other berries dominate here, accented by light wood and vanillla and bready malts. Medium body, light-med carbonation, smooth texture. Great aging on this fruit beer, berries dominate with an amazing flavor profile, heat is minimal, flavor is high! j12601 (1338), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 30, 2009 Bottle at the release of Flaming Fury. This was an 05 Fort, and I’m glad I got to try it as I wasn’t about to shell out the $20 for a bottle to myself when just about everyone I’ve known who has tried it has commented on it not being worth the cash. This was however a welcome surprise as it was a rather solid beer, although being one with this much age on it, it could be a drastically different beast from what they’re putting out now. Pours a murky brown with a thin white head. Little chunky raspberry seed bits throughout, though I was towards the end of the bottle so the rest may not have had those. Raspberry, and clean vanilla aromas. Lots of raspberry flavor and sweetness. Cloying in fact, way too sweet. Finishes up with a bit more vanilla. Nose shows sherry, apple lots of fruit esters from the yeast but still smells a bit hot (I later learn it is 18%). Intro is almost instant strawberry puree with plenty of sweet lemon/orange peel zesty notes. Mid palate is quite sweet as it shows off the raspberries. I believe I have drank this bottle before its time. I will be cellaring another. patrickfannon (372), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 14, 2009 Bottle. 25.4 oz. My 200th brew! Split with James and Sean. Pours orange/amber with a full, white head. Aroma of raspberries, hops, wheat, barley, and slight traces of alcohol. Warm, smooth mouthfeel. Full body with a crisp, clean finish. This is the best fruit beer I have ever tasted. Hides the alcohol extremely well, and is not too sweet. Excellent. esjaygee (1578), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 9, 2009 Reddish amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma of varnish, raspberries, alcohol and mild funk. Taste is of alcohol right out of the gate. Flavor of malt, raspberries, alcohol with a tart raspberry finish. It’s decent, but just too much over the top as I felt like I was breathing fire after awhile.
