Aroma was really sweet, a smelled a bit of honey and citrus. Taste was sweet with a nice level of carbonation. Kind of let me down, I was expecting slightly more out of Dogfish Head. Thick sweet aroma with honey, herbal hops and apricot. Bittersweet flavor with honeyish and toffeish maltiness, strong herbal hoppiness as well as grapefruit and apricot. Tasty, but not so pilsner like. SledgeJr (2977), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Has the aroma of flax. Freshly cut straw. This is a thick syrupy beer. It finishes with a mild orange coriander hop aroma. Delicious and bring me some more! patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 30, 2009 bottle - I’m kind of disappointed it’s called "Golden Era" now instead of the much more disturbing "Golden Shower". It pours hazy gold with a one finger lingering white head that laces well. It has a citrus accented hop aroma with some yeast. The flavor is moderately hopped with citrus notes and an ample supply of bready malt for sweetness. This medium bodied brew is good though it doesn’t blow me away. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 27, 2009 Bottled in 2007 - fairly aged sample, and it turned out to be in real nice form. Clear golden pour with a creamy white head and generous amounts of spotty lacing. Grassy, peppery aroma that leads to notes of sugary vanilla and pale malts. A touch tart and funky as well. No indication of the 9% abv, mouth feel is sharp and succinct. Bitter hop aftertaste along with a light sweet tartness that rolls. Flavors are real tasty, it’s creamy with generous amounts of grainy/grassy malt. Strong noble hop presence along with a minor lemon/citrus aspect coupled with pine. Delicate for such a big beer, seems nicely aged and is still going strong. Pleasantly cohesive. Hoptagon (145), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2009 12oz. Bottled in 2007. Pours a straw color with virtually no head. Mild aroma of pilsner malts and a slight alcohol burn. Overall flavor is fairly smooth with grain and malt characters predominating. Would describe the flavors as being on the sweet side and reminiscent of honey sweetened cereal. The palate is creamy and on the heavier side for a pilsner. Finishes with a hit of bitterness. As this beer is now fairly old, the hop character is subtle and virtually unnoticeable in the nose. Should probably have polished this one last summer. luttonm (307), Belgrade, Serbia
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 22, 2009 12oz. Hazy orange pour with mild floral hop on the nose. Rich, full taste that is creamy with a great crisp bite. Robust lager, impressive. FlssmrBrewAlum (1177), Lisle, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 15, 2009 12 oz. bottle bought awhile ago at Binny’s (Orland Park, IL). Pours a hazed golden hue, bubbly with creamy white head that is moderate and starts to dissipate. Aromas of pilsner malts, very Dogfish-esque malts similar to the carmel malty body of the 60 Minute. Decent hop additions create a nice bouquet of floral and light citrus. Initial is smooth up front, sweeter grainy malts move into a light alcohol presence, with nice grassy and citrusy hoppiness. Finishes with a subtle sweetness, light-medium body with an ABV to boot. Laces well, alittle astringent for the style, but certainly not overhopped. A bit different from most "Imperial Pilsners". This was ok.
