Dogfish Head Golden Era (Shower)

I was very dissapointed in this beer. I expected much more. Too doughy and no metallic bite like from classic Euro pils like Urquell, Staro Prama, St Pauli Girl, etc. This beer was way too expensive to be as below average as it was. Don’t waste your money on this one.

Light gold in color. Floral hops and citrus fruit in aroma. Taste of hops and is sweet. Hint of citrus in taste. Somehow able to find a bottle of Golden Shower (not Golden Era).

Bottle from Issac Newtons take out. Copper pour with a 2 finger head that hugs the glass. A hoppy/ caramel aroma possibly some sweet malt. Taste is sweet pine with a dry finish. This was just ok for me not as good as I hoped but still a good beer from a great company.

Bottle purchased at Whole Foods: dark golden pour, thick head, aroma is sweet and maybe a little cidery and hoppy, taste is sweet with a hint of the alcohol. This is my first strong lager so I don’t really have anything to compare this to. It’s not bad but I doubt I would buy this one again. I would be open to trying some of the higher rated beers in this style.

Bottle thanks to ogglethorp. Poured a hazy golden color with a thin white head. Very sweet aroma, I was expecting more hops due to "dry-hopped in the conditioning tank for 8 weeks." It was just not there. The taste grew on me, at first I seemed like it was a beer that hadn’t completetly fermented out. I got none of the crispness and dryness associated with a pilsner. It was very much like the 120 Minute IPA (which I thoroughly did not enjoy). Too much sweetness for a pils, but once I took it for what it was, I started to enjoy it. Not a bad beer, just had no pilsner qualities about it.

Golden in colour, large white head, long lasting, great lacing. The aroma is of rich floral hops, light citrus, some caramel sweetness, earthy, light alcohol. The flavour is moderatly hopped, slightly acidic, quite sweet, lots of caramel malts, alcoholic. Moderatly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long and sweet, slightly buttery. This is quite good, the alcohol is fairly well hidden which is come to be expected from this brewery.

750ml, labeled golden shower, rating from memory. poured clear straw color with nice head retention. nose is of light floral hops and cereal. taste is slightly sweet, yeasty, and bland. alcohol noticed in finish. way overpriced. i’d rather get a golden shower than pay and drink this again.

750 ml bottle, bottled22 Mar 2006. Pours clear golden color with full foam white head. Aroma of oranges, sweat malt and yeast. Has alcohol taste to it and sweat malt with slight bitter after taste.
