Commercial Description:
Being one of the original gangstas of off-centeredness the Gose is one of the only types of beer legally allowed to be brewed without the Reinheitsgetbot restriction in Germany. Gose originated in the Saxon State of Germany in the town of Goslar on the river Gose. The mash consisted of 40% wheat, 40% German Pilsner Malt and 20% Flaked Oats to help round out the character of the beer. For our version, brewer Todd Perkins was in charge - in the kettle we used Vanguard hops, Salt (Hawaiian Sea Salt), ground coriander and lactic acid to finish. Todd gave a nod to a fave flick ’Ghostbusters’ in naming this beer. Goser The Gosarian is very easy to drink at only 4.5 ABV and 19 IBU. Straw like in color.

On tap at DFH Rehoboth brewpub 9/4/09. Pours an attractive, bright hazy yellow with a dense white head. In the nose, there is fresh hay and grass with a whiff of interesting sourness. The flavor has notes of wheat, light base malt, saltiness, tart lemon, noble hops and an unexpected sourness in the finish - but not in a funky brett type of way. Light bodied with lively, fine-beaded carbonation. A very refreshing, interesting session beer. Really good stuff - I hope they make more of this.

Draft at DFH Rehoboth on 8/29. Hazy gold pour with a short white head. Aroma is rather grainy and lemony with light sourdough and yeast notes. Hints of spice taste is rather tart with more lemon, salt, grains/wheat, light spice, and sour yogurt. Body is light and very bubbly with a light dryness and acidic notes. Ends with more salt, sour fruit, grains, yogurt spice and lemon zest. Nice!

On tap @ the Rehoboth Brewpub-Cloudy straw color w/o much head. Aromas of wheat & citrus. Strong flavors of lemon grass, wheat & citrus, w/a little spice, maybe colander, maybe orange peel. Has a very sour flavor to it, really puckers you up, took a few sips to get used to it, almost took your breath away. Brought to mind the few Lambic’s I’ve had-a Guauze or a Faro. Different but good; seems I use that line a lot when talking about Dogfish brews! I don’t think you could drink to many of these, more of an after dinner sipper.
