Apr 23, 2009 12 oz bottle from EZ Liquors. Pours an interesting color which is a deep red blended into a medium brown with a small bubbly light beige head, lots of clinging bubbles also on my Lucifer snifter. Aroma is all peat, slight smoke and alcohol, slight touch of vanilla perhaps. Medium to fuller bodied with a good dose of carbonation and finishes with lots of alcohol that is felt in the upper chest area. Flavor pretty much the same as the aroma with lots of peat and a touch of smoke and alcohol. I am really underwhelmed by this one and maybe this one needs to sit for quite awhile to let the flavors/aromas emerge.

Apr 21, 2009 Pours a deep brown with a very thin tan head. Aroma is absolutely wonderful. Vanilla, oak, syrup, slightly fruity. Mouth feel is huge with all the afermentioned notes, along with a sweet alcohol taste. This beer really hits its full potential as it warms down toward room temp. The oak and vanilla really open up, and the ale becomes extremely smooth and creamy. This beer is an amazing winter warmer and puts a big smile on my face. Definetly one of my favorites.

Apr 21, 2009 Pours a nice dark color almost black with hardly any head. Has a smokey taste slight vanilla roasted barley. It has a nice big alcohol kick that is hidden nicely. Another great from dogfish head brewery.

Apr 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice red brown color. Aroma of light hops, and some fruitiness. Flavor was hops, malts, alcohol and a hint of vanilla.

Apr 16, 2009 At the tasting session by Joes. A clear red/brown colored beer, with a little beige head. The aroma of dark fruits, like berries, some hops. Notes of sweet. The taste of fruits, cognac and alcohol. There are notes of smoke malts. The aftertaste is bitter and dry.

Apr 13, 2009 From bottle. hazy muddy brown appearance. thin off white lace. rich aroma of hops and fruit. Seems to have a syrupy texture. Very rich flavour of caramel, hops and spices. Bitter malt finish. Warming ale with a bit of a bite to it.

Mar 28, 2009 Aroma was fruity, with lots of malt, and something offensive that was definitely a yeast character. poured ruddy brown with poor head retention. flavor was malt, bad yeast flavor... that I can only say is a weird frutiness and sort of catty, but not in a hop way. full palate. At least the alcohol was well hidden. barley made it through this one.
