Almost overwhelming, but makes every sip worth savoring to parse out every element. Drink slowly. NJJereme (272), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA

I generally thoroughly enjoy DFH products. Pours a brownish amber color with a light off-whte head. Aroma and taste of maple. Smoky as well. Surprisingly, easy on the palate. I didn’t detect even a hint of vanilla. Disappointing. Rogueone (506), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 24, 2008 Sample at DFH night @ BWS: Cloudy brown pour with white head and sticks to the sides. Aroma is sweet candi sugar and maple syrup? Flavor is definitely maple, rum-soaked raisin, salty, and finishes sweet and a bit smoky with the dryness of oak. Beardface (1034), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Pours the color and consistency of wonderful Vermont maple syrup. Taste and smell are very malty with some of that syrup and alcohol along with dried fruit. Has all the above in the flavor along with a kick of vanilla. Another winner from DFH. bierkoning (6082), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Bottle from Lithy, thanks! Dark brown color. Raisin, grapes and vanilla in the aroma. Oaky, alcoholic flavor with raisin, vanilla, ash, plums and dried fruit. Hint of smoke. Sticky mouthfeel. Interesting beer. MrBeerFanatic (360), jamestown, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 15, 2008 Pours a darker cloudy brown with a fizzy and quickly dissipating off white head. Aromas of sweet maple, brown sugar, fruit and vanilla. Many of the aromas carry over to the flavor with other added flavors per say. This one is quite complex. There is a lot of flavors that hit you all at once. There are flavors of maple, hint of hops, smoked barely, and ends with a little vanilla. Pretty sweet all around. Leaves a little smoky aftertaste, almost burnt which explains the oak aging. This one should be sipped to fully appreciate all the complex flavors going on here. Nicely done brew and very unique. Dogfish has yet to let me down. awiseman01 (369), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 15, 2008 Bottle. Poured in a tulip, but the color of this one looked like it belonged in a scotch glass. Warm, sweet maple/vanilla nose. Taste hits the tongue with sweet vanilla, rich maple, and an excellent barrel aged oak character. At this point, I wanted to pour it into my Macallan snifter scotch glass. The smoky, peat character is an undertone, but completes this magnificent brew nicely. I will be buying more of this soon. I do have to say the smoothness of this beer stands out in comparison to more coarse barley wines.
