| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 18/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Bottle I got from the Dogfish Head pub in Delaware. It’s an ’06 bottle from their "secret" Stash. A very complex beer. Very Sweet and strong as hell. I love it. It’s a sipper. The commercial Description pretty much sums it up. I had something else written but this damn site timed me out and everything I had went away because I had to log back in. Anyhow it’s a damn good beer. Not sure if it’s a good "Barley Wine" or not but I’m glad I paid the money for it! anders37 (4747), Malmö, Sweden

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep burgundy with a beige head. The aroma is a very tangy citrus much like a cherry with some plums. Maltiness is noticeable behind the prominent citrus. The initial flavour as the brew comes in contact with the tongue is the intense malt. The alcohol presence is faint, but noticeable. Berry citrus rounds out the initial flavour. There is another distinct yet subtle flavour that’s somewhat hard to describe. As the brew passes the taste buds, maple sweetness bursts. Woody, oakiness is another very dominant flavour. The berries still play a background role, but becomes a little more noticeable. A very interesting flavour, similar to the undescribed note in the initial flavour, mingles with some light smokiness, this must be the peat mentioned in the description. The finish is slightly dry with a light bitterness that attacks the entire palate. Alcohol continues as a subtle note even to the finish. As with most barley wines, this beer is a bit sweet, but the complexities in the flavour make it quite enjoyable. marcus (1884), Sacramento, California, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2008 12 oz bottle, cellared at least two years. Clearish brown with some beige bubbles. Nose is oak, vanilla, caramel and alcohol. Medium body; sort of oily and kind of flat. Taste is buttered rum, wood alcohol, soap and moldy pine. Finishes dry, bitter and minerally. I’m surprised this fared so poorly with aging after a recent Olde School did well. Must be better fresh. kpresley77 (134), Jackson, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 17, 2008 Bottle pours deep redish brown with thin quick disapating white head. Aroma is dark sweet fruits roasted malt and a hint of vanilla. First taste is sweet malt and some spices. The alcohol burn is there along with a somewhat candy sugar flavor, maybe from the syrup. Definite alcohol burn that lingers but expected from 11%.
