Jun 11, 2008 Bottle... Poured deep ruby with a beige head. Aroma of chalky, roasted malt and crystal sugars. Lots of smoked flavors with maybe vanilla bean and fruity flavors. Roasted and oaky malt as well. Nice and hearty and beautiful to sip slowly.

Jun 11, 2008 Really complex with heavy smoke notes, bourbon, vanilla, cherry and maple. Not what you want to chug in the summer, but you can appreciate the craft that goes into this. Really interesting and tasty, but not exactly my thing.

Jun 11, 2008 Pours brown with red highlights and a small light tan head. Aroma of woody vanilla and malty sweetness. Extreme smoky flavor, almost bacon, and dark fruit. Alcohol is evident. Medium bodied with medium high carbonation. I would score this higher if it wasn’t so expensive.

Jun 9, 2008 12 oz bottle. aroma - lively fruit, creamy vanilla yeasts; oddly, subtle cranberry and juniper on the nose as well. very pleasant, very complex. brown sugar hue. very approachable. comforting carbonation. flavors of rich maple syrup, molasses, brwon sugar, goosenberry jam, blackberry jam, and sugar syrup. on the palate is moderately heavy, but extremely mellow. above adequate lacing ensured the pleasant palate in which i do thoroughly enjoy. the finish is rather smooth, yet subtly heavy. good brew. i should age a few more.

Jun 8, 2008 Bottle 2008, pours an orange red with a thin off white head. aroma is sweet fruit and alcohol. Caramel is very present in the flavor and aroma. Nice punch on the tongue, very nice Barley Wine.

Jun 8, 2008 Bottle - Poured a dark reddish brown in color with a small whitish head that thinned to a rim around the glass and a small covering over the beer. Aroma is fairly sweet and malty with a hint of the oak wood cask that it was aged in. Very nice... Flavor is *very* complex!! Lots of peated malts.. smoky, sweet...flavor clings to the inside of your mouth. Roasted malts and darkly browned sugar... some flavor of dark fruits... prune perhaps. Vanilla is pretty strong along with some maple... yum! Palate is quite thick and chewy. Some alcohol at the end... no surprise at 11%. Finish is long and sweet... This is one of the best that I have ever had!!! Really Good!!
