| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 13, 2008 this one pours a amber red, kind looks like maple syrup. it has a small head that stays afloat for a while, it has a real sweet and malty character to it, also tastes of maple syrup and a slight bitter aftertaste. This is another top favorite DH. texasbartender (160), Sugarland, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2008 The beer pours red with little to no head. The nose is light but complex. The undertone of oak is clear but there is a powerful sweet taste. I get a mix of honey and maple with a hint of malt. The beer is nice a very drinkable but not crave-able. mar (1972), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 11, 2008 bottle, you can smell the fruit and malts two feet away, this is a big beer, off white head that leaves a nice lace, smoky vanilla extract flavors compete with the sweet bitter cocoa and finish with a buttery soft fullness Burrobuns (81), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | May 9, 2008 It looks nice and it is very lively when it hits your tongue. Other than that, not much else going for it. I read the bottle and was really excited - maple, vanilla and oak - sounds like a great scotch. Maybe it should have been, but instead I found it to be a disappointing beer. Flavor is dominated by sugary sweetness and alcohol. Call me crazy, but I thought I tasted some funky artificial vanilla flavoring... mreusch (745), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 9, 2008 12oz. bottle, with thanks to both john_adam2002 and boboski, appreciate it guys! Pours a clear amber with a foamy tan head, minimal lacing. Aroma is wet leather, oak, vanilla, brown sugar and light smoke. Flavor has more of the same, with increased smoked peat presence tempered against some vanilla, maple and brown sugar sweetness. Interesting and unique, but the pieces don’t quite meld together as well as I’d hope. Hints of vanilla and sweet syrup in the aroma. i can taste some chocolate and some vanilla. keaves a dry aftertaste. A very well-balanced beer to be 11% abv. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 8, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a brown with hints of red with ring of off-white head. Aroma is of musk, leather, oak, brown suger and maple syrup.Flavor is different than aroma as musk and leather are not as strong. Flavors of oak, brown suger and vanilla really shine. A good amount of carbonation in this brew. The musky aroma throw the beer off a little for me. Enjoyed the Olde School more. Will let the rest age hoping it takes the edge off.
