Nose is sweet malt, cherries, alcohol, grapes. Taste is sweet fruits, cherries, moving into vanilla, smoke, and very noticeable oak. Finishes with a lasting warming alcohol sensation. I love beer like this, it has a complexity to it that works, with almost no presence of hops. Delicious! Elwood (677), Leesburg, Virginia, USA

Appearance: Hazy, deep red with a small, foamy, off-white head. The head is pretty quick to fade.
Aroma: Ripe fruit, vanilla, cherries, slight peat note, some medicinal notes, almost scotch like.
Taste: Deep, ripe fruit, dark cherry, peat, oak, vanilla, dark honey. Very complex. Warming alcohol on the back end.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a rich body but slightly dry mouthfeel. Dry, oaky, medium finish.
Overall: This is a massive beer. As the label states, it is luscious and complex. Still, I have never been a fan of medicinal notes in my beer. It reminds me just a bit too much of an islay scotch.
Would I buy it again: No. I enjoyed trying it once, but it is not a beer I will be going back to. It just isn’t my kind of beer. brigg (216), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, cherry, melon, caramel, bread, and mild hops. Flavor has lots of alcohol, and caramel dark roasted malt. Some fruit in the middle, but quickly overcome by smoky, woody alcohol. Full-bodied. ALCOHOLNIZM (64), WARWICK, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 3, 2009 12 oz bottle served in a clear tulip glass. Pour was a caramel color with three fingers of slightly off-white head. The foam stayed around for a spell, but once it was gone, left a nice lacing on the glass. Nose is smoke, wood, and malt. Taste is smoke, malt, and a thick sweet body that teeters on being syrupy. This is a pretty good beer, but the sweetness level would prohibit me from drinking more than one at a time. Malty aroma with vanilla, maple and some hop. Vanilla flavor up front with some smoke and a maple finish. Rustyham (565), miami, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 1, 2009 Thick, syrupy and sugary, like the 120 but but smooth. Probably not good for a diabetic tho. It tastes very Belgian- I never would have guessed it was a barley Wine. Bottle at Town Kitchen and Bar, south Miami.
