11/13/2007: Dogfish Head Immort Ale pours a hazy honey color. This is a quick flash of a thin crown but that’s about it. The intensely sweet aroma has strong notes of Scotch and is lightly smoky. As the beer warms, some light phenol aromas becomes noticeable, but isn’t overbearing and doesn’t detract from the beer too much. The wonderful flavor is a blend of sweet caramel malts, smooth Scotch, light peat malt, creamy vanilla, and . The alcohol is amazing well hidden. This beer is thick and creamy on the palate and very smooth going down. This is great Barleywine that is very complex and has an excellent blend of sweetness, smoke, and other great flavors.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 12, 2007 Bottle. Pours a hazy amber color. The beer itself was a little overpowering in the aroma department. It wasn’t bad though. Had a very definitive vanilla presence in this beer. The flavor was actually more smooth than I expected. Alcohol presence is noticeable. Makes for a great warming beverage. Beerlando (2344), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 5, 2007 Bottle aged about one year. Pours a lightly hazy, dark reddish-amber body. A small, foamy, off-white head quickly settles to just a tiny rim. Virtually no lacing noted. The aroma shows sweet toasted caramel, smoked oak, vanilla vodka, maple syrup, and dark berries. There’s also a smoked peat quality that is reminiscent of a Scotch Ale. The flavor is complex, running the gamut from sweet caramel to toasty, smoky oak. The vanilla presence in this beer is huge, as are dried fruits, including dark berries and apricots. Alcohol is quite noticeable, though not intrusive. Medium-full, slightly syrupy body. Moderate duration, maple and vanilla finish. This is a nice, slow sipping warmer. Very good beer. bdigital (590), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA
