Beer was not a favorite of mine. Not a big fan of barley wines and definately did not like the after taste. Reminded me of what a bandaid smells like. Probably will stay away from this beer as there are so many other perfect ones from Dogfish Head. Slinger (91), Toms River, New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 29, 2007 My friend Flyer gives a lot of points for originality and uniqueness, and he loves this beer. I guess if my beer judging paradigm was like his, I suppose I would also think extremely highly of it. I didn’t find this beer to be especially pleasant, but I did find it highly different.
Appearance was reddish and not terribly remarkable. The smell was complex, but I detected a definite antiseptic note which reminded me of the veterinarian’s office. I also got some malt and vanilla, but the vet’s office was tough to ignore. Flavor-wise, I got a great deal of freshly opened Band-Aid, which was fairly chemical-ly and weird. Mouthfeel was a bit thick and good.
This beer was OK, and definitely something different. However, I won’t be in any huge hurry to have it again. michael-pollack (2739), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA

Smells very malty with notes of caramel, vanilla, almonds, smoke, and some dark fruits. Poured deep orange with a hint of ruby and a tiny tan head that diminished rapidly. No lacing. Clear. Not sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes smoky, with flavors of maple syrup, vanilla, bacon, wood, and caramel. Full body. Thick, viscous texture. Soft carbonation. Smoky sweet finish. Overall, too BBQ like for me. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 22, 2007 This so far has been my favorite Barleywine. It packs an "oomph" but is not harsh at all. After the pour the wood, smoke and alcohol really come out in the aroma. A medium bodied ale with a bitter taste, this barleywine is best served only slightly chilled fozapd (33), Burlington, New Jersey, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 18, 2007 Dogfish head immort ale was delicous. I was surprised to learn that it was a barleywine as it is smooth with a nice frothy head. It was a shade more brown than red. The aroma was a mix of sweet malts and vanilla. The taste was velvety on the tongue with a start of malts and vanilla before finish with a more barleywine-esqe bite. I think I’m going to get more of this one why it is available!
