From Immy via trade. Thanks! Pour was a crystal clear copper color with some darker reddish highlights. The head had nice structure and was slightly off-white. The head was small and offered up virtually no lacing. The aroma was ashtray, peat, maple and some fragrant floral hops. The flavor was ashtray, scotch, vanilla and maple. The mouthfeel was (as usual from DFH) top-notch. The finish was nice.

Ruby brown pour with smaller but peresitent head. Intense smokey flavors are apparent on the nose as well as figgy, citrus, sugary scents. The taste itself is smokey, with touches of sugar and earthy oak. Syrupy in body there is a touch of vanilla and a lingering sweetness towards the back . A cedary woodiness is consistent throughout the taste. Considering the high abv, the alcohol taste is well concealed nad a warmer towards the finish. Maybe not an everyday beer but certainly a good, interesting one and worth a try.

(Bottle, thanks beachbum25) Pours dark copper red. Malty, thick aroma of caramel, syrup, fudge and dark sticky bread. Some woody notes with vanilla and smoke. A bit fruity with notes of plums, apples, ripe mango, light strawberry and pears. Light spicy and yeasty. Some alcohol warmth. Malty, light yeasty flavour with caramel, smoke, honey and vanilla. A fruity spectra comes later with notes of strawberry yoghurt, apples, cherries and pears. Some subtle spices in the flavour as well. Syrupy, sticky, smooth and round mouthfeel. Almost port like finish that ends on a sweet note, maybe a bit too sweet. Some yeast lingers. Medium to full body. Complex and interesting mix of aromas and flavours but a tiny bit too sweet overall.

Deep opaque mahogany with a small tan head. The nose is floral with plum, rasberry, clove, rose, juniper and orange, really nice. Medium on the palate with a silky mouthfeel for such a heavyweight, light carbonation. The flavor is maple, maple, maple, vanilla, burnt fruity toffee, raisins and plums. It finishes with woody bitterness from the oak and hops. Light to medium sweet throughout, the complexity, acidity, wood, and hops keep it from being cloying and I’m very picky about beers being too sweet. For all the crazy flavors and aromas, this brew comes together nicely.

Reddish caramel color with very thin tan head. Nose of sweet fruit and vanilla...some mild oak. Smokey, scotch peat flavors that borders on the taste of Band-aids...but I’ll think of the scotch instead. Creamy mouth feel that finishes with a strong vanilla and leather taste.

Bottle from Slob - Thanks! Hazy copper pour with a medium beige head and nice lacing. Nose is fruity and sweet, citrus, caramel, and vanilla. Taste is malty with caramel, fruity, sweet and ciderlike. Even a little oak presence. Lots of flavors within and maintains a good balance. Very enjoyable from the crew at DFH.

Pours a real nice maple syrup-amber color with small frothy head. Aroma reminds me of scotch- smokey, peaty, and sweet. Hints of maple, oak, and tobacco as well. Flavor is actually quite tobacco-like, but compliments the smokey-peat and vanilla sweetness. Almost sticky-sweet, this brew is not only interesting, but also quite good in its complexity. A worthwhile try.
