| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2009 Ruby pour. Alcohol on the nose. Taste of freshness but is also alcoholic. Burns on the finish, but not in a detracting manner. Bitters on the finish as well but has an aged feel. Interesting. baraciisch (140), USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 4, 2009 Mahogany brown in color... Vanilla oak aroma... Alcohol content not terribly apparent initially, but you can definitely feel it tingle the palate after a sip.... Flavor is oaky vanilla and malty with hints of maple syrup... Not much bitterness but the alcohol leaves enough balance... Great brew. bp (458), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 4, 2009 Bottle: pours a dark redish color with almost no head, aroma of vanilla, oak, some hops hidden there, taste of dark fruit, vanilla, flavor from the oak barrel, the belgian yeast makes this remind me of a belgian strong but the other things going on make it clear that is not the case. Good stuff. Birdiebeagle (807), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Bottle Pours a clear amber with a smal off white head. The head evaporates quickly. Has a sweet aroma of juniper berries, smokey bread, touch of maple syrup, I tried but could not find the vanilla. Has a good carbination and a nice mouthfeel. The flavor is robust. It smacks you right up front. The alcohol is well hidden. Has a full body and a syrupy texture. Has a touch of sourness to it. A strong finish with a good aftertaste. ksurkin (405), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 30, 2009 [Bottle] Pours clear reddish-amber with a good light tan head that shrinks to just a ring. Aroma is quite sweet, with a lot of juniper, banana, and a little smoke. Alcohol comes out quite a bit as it warms. Not bad, but a bit sweet, and too hot. Taste is big on yeasty banana again, but also a lot of chocolate (becomes dominant flavor after awhile), alcohol, subdued bitterness and notes of smoke again. Pretty nice--I prefer it over the aroma. Good mouthfeel, somewhat smooth and has a fairly long, very dry finish. Overall, a good beer, but falls short of being great.
