May 20, 2009 355ml bottle from Trader Joes Indinapolis. Pours dark with a white head. The aroma is subdude but pleasant, with some roast and some hops, almost like a porter. The flavour is also like a porter until it reaches the back of the tongue, where it explodes with rich roasted barley and hops. Lingering finish. Very nice indeed. I’ll be getting a case of this on my next visit to the US.

May 18, 2009 12 ounce bottle. Pours very deep brown with a small tan head. The aromas include a little bit of dark chocolate and a lot of roasted coffee beans. The taste is deep, with some great malts which are very sweet and have some hints of gingerbread. There is also some brown sugar in the flavor, the palate is strong but not too thick, a great brown ale.

May 14, 2009 Bottle. Poured a dark reddish-brown with a thin off-white head. Nose is full of roasted malt, coffee, hops, some alcohol. Flavor is very interesting, too malty for an IPA basically an over-hopped brown ale. Notes of hard roasted malts, coffee, currant, and hops. Actually very nice.

May 12, 2009 Pours clear dark brown, with a medium tan head, very good lacing. Smells of chocolate, chicory, and plum. Medium body, velvety and smooth. Tastes of chocolate, chicory, and light molasses, pine and grass in the medium-bitter aftertaste. Tastes more like a porter than a mild brown ale.

May 10, 2009 Updated: Jun 5, 2009This was an amazing beer and readily available at my local Kroger in a sixer. Loved the syrupy, molasses-like texture with prominent brown sugar sweetness and powerful malt aroma. Well balanced hop addition, full-bodied and well-rounded beer. I even got my girlfriend to enjoy this craft brew. Sessionable at 7.2% and 50 IBU.
