Reddish-dark-brown, brief minimal tan-white head. Medium sweet, heavy bitterness. Heavy bodied, soft carbonation, finishing long bitter mocha. A decent beer. Probably would enjoy it in cooler weather. BiddleBrau (335), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 28, 2009 poured dark brown with red highlights and thin head. Rich toffee and caramel in the aroma. Alcohol was present up front on the tongue, coffee and mocha malts, hop flavor with bitterness to help balance but not over-the-top bite. Hops balance more prominent maltiness. A bigger beer without being too big in any one area. Real nice. mrbirmingham (37), Kansas, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Aroma: Big Aroma… raisins, dried fruits, coffee
Appearance: Pours deep brown, tan head.
Flavor: Full flavored with a strong bias towards the malts. It has a complex flavor which includes roasted grains, coffee, caramel, molasses and dried fruits.
Mouth feel: Full body with effervescence in the back of the mouth
Overall Impression: Great beer with big complex flavors and aroma. This is fun beer to drink, taste and enjoy as it doesn’t match any particular style. I am in wonder to where the hops were hid. For a 50 IBU beer I would expect the hops to be more prominent. It’s fun to try and define, yet is doesn’t match any style. It takes the best characteristic from different beers and combines into a great beer.

Thats fine with me, Roasted, hoppy, malty, hoppy, dark, hoppy, delicious, and hoppy. Fantastic, almost a black and tan. A hoppy one atleast. mihalis (21), Irving, Texas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 24, 2009 Pours dark amber with a thin, tan head. Faint nose of molasses and alcohol. Thick smoky mouthfeel. Tastes of coffee and roasted malt with a hint of bourbon. Bitter finish, weighs heavy on the palate. foosnbrews (39), Parker, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 20, 2009 Beer poors dark brown with a very thin tan head. Aroma is of roasted grains and a hint of hops. Flavor is roasty which is exagerated due to the bitterness of the beer. Hops play well with the grains hiding any strong hop flavors. Beer finishes very clean with a slight astringency typical of the style. Overall beer is a nice brown. PJClarke (717), London, Greater London, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 20, 2009 A very, very dark reddy brown ale with an airy yellowed beige head.
Aroma: Deep fruity malts, rich and boozy. Black cherries and sweet coffee.
Flavour: Thick chocolate with the tiniest hint of metal. There are some hops but they definitely play second fiddle to the sweeter malty flavours. Raisins and slightly grapey notes are apparent. Treacle and chocolate biscuits.
Quite thick with a tiny tingle of carbonation and a light dryness on the top of the mouth.
Nicely drinkable with the rich flavours of a more intense beer. suchen (81), , Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 20, 2009 A thick clinging film sat atop a very deep brown body. Aroma is mostly syrupy and chocolatey malts with a bit of roastiness. Flavor is moderately sweet with some coffee near the finish. Hops become very noticeable in the dry bitter finish.
